David Twitchell is a stoneware and porcelain artist working in Kaysville, Utah. Purveyor of Purslane Pottery, David’s fine ceramic functional ware lends handcrafted beauty to objects of daily use. Having dug and processed clay from a mountainside deposit as a boy, David learned early a quiet respect for raw sedimentary material. At age fifteen he began throwing on a Lockerbie kick wheel. The next year he bought a small electric wheel; at seventeen he undertook an apprenticeship and later that year was juried into his first Park City Art Festival. Since then his commitment to purposeful pottery and preserving the earthy authenticity of clay has only grown. Oxides and ground stone are meticulously combined to create glazes complimentary to each piece.
