Salt Lake City, Jan. 16 – Craft Lake City, a 501©3 non-profit organization, announces today that applications for its 2017 Do-It-Yourself Festival, held on Friday through Sunday, Aug. 11–13, are now open. Application categories include: artisans, vintage vendors, craft foodies, DIY engineers and performers.

Touted as Utah’s favorite locals only festival, the DIY Festival showcases our state’s amazing artisans. Since its humble inception in 2009 with only 72 artisans, Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival has become a staple event within the Utah festival community. Last year, the festival saw an attendance size of 20,000+ patrons, 300+ Exhibitors, 50+ live performers and 30+ food vendors.

“Our DIY Festival application process has opened earlier than ever before,” says Angela H. Brown, Craft Lake City’s Executive Director. “It’s my hope that in doing so, we will bring a forward awareness to the community, resulting in new applicants. We want performers, artisans, DIY engineers, craft foodies and vintage vendors to start thinking about their applications now so that they don’t have to worry about missing the deadline.”

2017 marks the 9th year of Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival and its second with a three-day format. Featuring a VIP area, Kids’ Area, Bike Valet and interactive events, the DIY festival caters to all things creative in Utah. Artisans featured at the festival specialize in DIY-made goods, such as silk-screened posters, hand-sewn embroidery, reconstructed clothing, jewelry, letter-pressed books and more.

With two stages for local musicians and performers, a food truck area, craft food vendors, and a Science Technology Engineering and Math building to showcase the work and ideas of DIY Engineers, Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival continues to bring together the makers and innovators of the Beehive State.
