Salt Lake City, Sep. 15 – The Natural History Museum of Utah and Craft Lake City present the October Viking Textile Workshop with Deanna Baugh of Pioneer Craft House. The workshop will be held at the Natural History Museum of Utah on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 12 to 3:30 p.m.
This workshop series is in tune to the Museum’s current exhibition, Vikings: Beyond the Legend. These workshops seek to provide educational and fun projects related to Viking history and art. A long-time textile artist, Deanna Baugh has studied and researched different methods of weaving, often paired with her world traveling. Working with Pioneer Craft House, Baugh has a passion for preserving and educating the community about folk crafts of the world.
“I love teaching people about textile production and art,” says Baugh. “This workshop will be a great opportunity for patrons to learn about traditional folk crafts and textile history. I am excited to be teaching such an awesome workshop! ” Participants at this workshop will learn how to create a traditional Viking loom and how to use it to create a woven textile bag.
