DIY Festival Inclusion Program

 

 

Craft Lake City developed the DIY Festival Inclusion Program in 2016 as part of our organization-wide Community Inclusion programming. The DIY Festival Inclusion Program seeks to create a Festival environment that is accessible to and representative of all Utahns in order to provide the community at large with opportunities to creatively and economically thrive. This initiative supports individuals from underrepresented and/or socially or economically excluded communities through the following programs:

Application Fee Support

If you are interested in applying to the DIY Fest but the application fee presents a barrier to entry, application fee support may be available from grants, donors or other additional funding sources. Interested creatives may send an email to info[at]craftlakecity.com with a paragraph-length Statement Of Need prior to the application deadline (April 6, 2023) to inquire about potential fee support.

Scholarship & Mentor Program

Artisan Scholarship

The Artisan Scholarship benefits five first-time DIY Fest exhibitors in the artisan, vintage, and craft food categories to help prepare them for their first DIY Fest & beyond. 

The Artisan Scholarship includes: waived booth fees for participation in the 15th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons and one-on-one mentorship from a seasoned DIY Fest exhibitor before, during, & after the event! Application deadline is April 6, 2023.

LGBTQ+ Scholarship (NEW)

This scholarship benefits local makers, with a focus on those who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, who would like to sell or exhibit their handmade goods at the DIY Fest. This scholarship is open to individuals who are both first-time applicants and returning DIY Fest exhibitors.

The LGBTQ+ Scholarship includes: waived booth fees for participation in the 15th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons and one-on-one mentorship from a seasoned DIY Fest exhibitor before, during, & after the event! Application deadline is April 6, 2023.

ArtAbility Scholarship (NEW)

This scholarship, in partnership with the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council, benefits local makers, with a focus on those with disabilities who aspire to use their passion, skills and talents to build a small business as an artisan.This scholarship is open to both first time applicants and returning DIY Fest exhibitors.

Sponsored Entrepreneur Program

STEM Scholarships

Scholarships for exhibiting in the Google Fiber STEM Building are available for small, local non-profit groups, whose mission is related to education in STEM fields. Scholarships are awarded on a sliding scale and may waive entire booth fees.
