Craft Lake City is looking for volunteers to help with our Second Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market! We’ll launch a NEW version of the Holiday Market beginning Fri., Dec. 4 - Mon., Jan. 4th. The online market will emphasize retail sales by highlighting exhibitor profiles featuring product images, descriptions, pricing, bios, links to web stores and social media accounts and optional video links. Additionally, Craft Lake City will host two live Virtual Meetups on Fri., Dec.11 & Fri., Dec. 18 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to give friends, family, fans and volunteers the opportunity to connect with our creative community in custom-made, virtual reality, holiday wonderland. Application Process

The Online Second Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market runs Fri., Dec. 4 – Mon., Jan. 4th. In-Person Volunteer Positions

  • In-person Volunteer Opportunities
    We will not be offering any in-person volunteer opportunities during the Second Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market. Craft Lake City cares deeply about the health and the future of our creative community. Our team remains committed to prioritize both the success and safety of local creatives and those who support them, including our volunteers. All in-person volunteer opportunities will resume once it is safe to do so. We invite any interested community member to join us as we explore an online alternative to our traditional in-person Holiday Market event this winter season. Online Volunteer Positions

  • Virtual Volunteer Ambassador
    Craft Lake City Virtual Volunteer Ambassador

    Purpose: Without the virtual support from volunteers, our staff could not manage to ensure the Second Annual Craft Lake City® Online Holiday Market remains a safe and inclusive environment for attendees and participants. By representing the organization through Craft Lake City’s virtual volunteer program as a Virtual Volunteer Ambassador, you will get to engage with a diverse cyber community and show support for local artisans safely from your own home! This is a great way to be more involved with Craft Lake City and help us further our mission of elevating the creative culture of the Utah Arts community. You will receive many thanks and smiles for your assistance, get a behind-the-scenes virtual experience of the virtual market, interact with using customized avatars, make new friends, and show your support of our local art economy.

    Location: The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador represents the organization as a personalized virtual avatar remotely during the Craft Lake City Online Holiday Market during our Virtual Meetups on Fri., Dec.11 & Fri., Dec. 18 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Key Responsibilities:

    -The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador serves as a representative of Craft Lake City as a personalized virtual avatar
    -Interacts with artisans during slow periods to ensure they are having a good experience and provide positive feedback
    -Greet and interact with the participants as they virtually enter galleries
    -Provide navigational assistance
    -Monitor the platform and alert Craft Lake City staff for any virtual trolls, offensive language and lewd comments
    -Provide support and general information when necessary
    -Promote Craft Lake City on personal social media pages
    -Maintaining a safe and inclusive virtual environment during the event
    -Have fun helping safely using personal laptop or desktop computer from home

    Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

    Length of appointment: The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador assists for a 2-hour shift during the Online Holiday Market either November 6th or 20th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

    Time Commitment: 2-hour shift but you are welcome to volunteer for both evenings!

    Support: Training for this position is required. Training is scheduled for the dates of Nov., 5th from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Nov., 19th from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator will be available for questions and assistance during the event.

    Qualifications: Access to a computer with internet access. Unfortunately, tablets and smartphones are not compatible with the platform. We ask volunteers signing up to own or have access to a laptop or desktop computer in order to be able to help.

    Benefits: Representing the organization through Craft Lake City’s virtual volunteer program is a fun way to engage with the community safely during the pandemic and share your passion for the arts. You will get a behind-the-scenes virtual experience, engage with artisans, make new friends and support a positive virtual experience for both participants and attendees!   • Online Volunteer Copy Editor
    Online Volunteer Copy Editor

    Purpose: Join a passionate team of volunteers to help Craft Lake City in editing web content during the Online Holiday Market. This unique position will have the flexibility to volunteer remotely, working at your own pace. Our virtual volunteers are made up of bright, dynamic, committed individuals. Volunteer Copy Editors will act as a fresh pair of eyes, spotting any grammar mistakes or questionable content matter. By assisting Craft Lake City online, you will be empowered knowing your hard work and effort makes a serious impact on the accessibility of our organization to our vast online community.

    Location: Online

    Key Responsibilities:
    -Volunteer Copy Editors work remotely at their own pace
    -Review assigned artisan profiles for accuracy and family friendly content
    -Ensure copy for each profile are updated and free of any grammatical errors
    -Check links and report any issues that need to be fixed
    -Monitor profiles and alert Craft Lake City staff for any products or profiles that contain offensive language, adult content, appropriation, bigotry or harmful language
    -Perform a ‘quality check’ by repeatedly visiting the site and reporting any issues
    -Promote Craft Lake City on personal social media pages
    -Provide recommendations and feedback to Craft Lake City personnel
    -Have fun helping safely using personal laptop or desktop computer from home

    Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

    Length of appointment: The Volunteer Copy Editor assists remotely on their own time Fri., Dec. 4 - Mon., Jan. 4th.

    Time Commitment: A minimum of 2-hr is required throughout the month for this unique volunteer opportunity.

    Qualifications: Access to a computer with internet access. Strong background in English, writing, and communications. Exceptional attention to detail. An interest in creating meaningful experience between Craft Lake City and the community. Interest in contributing to the promotion of Craft Lake City’s mission. Pleasant manner, technologically savvy, dependability and ability to provide necessary information and feedback. This position may turn into a year-round volunteer opportunity helping with web content, social media, PR and newsletter publications for the right candidates.

    Support: Training for this position is required. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator will be available for questions and assistance.
