About: I have been working with beads as a self-taught artist since 1998, but it was in 2007 that I created my current line - wire wrapped frames of sterling silver, gold fill, and other metals, filled with colorful glass seed beads and stones that are brick-stitched into place.
When I taught myself bead-weaving in the late 90's I was working on my Master's in photography, making large black and white photographs. I found the intricate work with tiny colorful beads the perfect relaxing counterpoint to my more serious artistic endeavor.
Before starting into the 'business' of making jewelry, it was very important to me to have a product that was unique - not an easy thing! My "aha" moment came when I realized: I love bead-weaving, and I love wirework. Why not combine the two and see what happens? And so I did.
Now, 7 years later, I am still in love with my work. The potential for designs is endless, there is no limit to the color combinations I can use, and there are always opportunities to expand the concept further - like the experiments I’m doing with beading inside cross sections of bamboo.
