About: My name is Penny Jones, and they tell me a woman should never reveal her age, but I’m proud of every one of my 72 years. I’ve been an artist my whole life, even managing to create new works when I was creating eight children! For many years I was a more traditional painter, as well as embarking on a career as a theatrical scenic painter. Always eager to tackle new challenges, the past several years I’ve found a new passion in found art. I scour flea markets, estate sales, and the like for the objects, destined for some mundane use or worse, the trash heap, to breathe new life into. A pile of tools, scrap metals, or silverware can become a fire breathing dragon or a fantastic flying machine or an amazing steam punk robot. My work strives to celebrate the whimsy and wonder in all of us, and although not aimed specifically for kids, I do try to tap into that part of us that used to see a sword where others saw a discarded picket fence piece or a dinosaur where others gazed at an abandoned car.
