Salt Lake City, Aug. 13 – Craft Lake City will present a Woodland Fairy Forest-themed area just for kids at the 8th Annual DIY Festival, held Aug. 12–14.
The Kids’ Area features craft projects that let kids flex their DIY muscles, including animal headbands, fairy wands and terrariums. Kids of all ages can get cool temporary tattoos by Tattly, and kids 10 and under can enjoy the Bouncy Castle.
Kids and their parents can also add a ceramic tile to artisan Roger Whiting’s two large collaborative mosaic murals that will hang outdoors this fall in downtown Salt Lake City. The project is part of Craft Lake City’s Celebration of the Hand exhibit.
The Google Fiber STEM Building will feature three unique “Be a DIY Engineer” projects for kids of all ages. Learn about electrical circuitry while creating Lego lamps and light wands, or solder a 3D-printed robot.
The DIY Festival will be held Friday, Aug. 12, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 13, from noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 14, from noon to 7 p.m. The festival features over 250 artisans, craft foodies and DIY engineers, as well as two stages with live music and dance by local performers.
