The 13th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Shines a Light on Utah’s Multicultural Performers

Salt Lake City, July 5 –  The Craft Lake City DIY Festival always prides itself on showcasing Utah-based performing artists that run the gamut of styles, traditions and genres. A vital part of our yearly performer showcases comes through performances from a variety of groups performing cultural music and dance from around the globe. The 2021 Festival is no different: From the Mexican folkloric dances of Grupo Folklorico Tollan to the stylistic fusions of Desibels, the educational performance programs of Expresion Andina Cultures & Traditions to the percussive bombast of Bomba Marile, the 13th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons highlights the unique and varying extensions of musical tradition present here in Utah.

In addition to the regular slate of performers, Craft Lake City is delighted to host a selection of Pacific Islander performers during our Saturday Pacific Islander Heritage Day at the Festival. While the rest of the grounds celebrate Pacific Island culture through art, food and more, the SLUG Mag stage will feature three performing groups during the 12:00–2:00 hours: Kanani Pua Dance, students from the Pacific Heritage Academy and the Kehaulani Hula Studio. Each group offers a different flavor of Pacific Island music and dance, making for a vibrant showcase that honors the depth, breadth and variety of these performers’ oeuvres.
