Giv Group is Accepting Tenant Applications for New Housing Project Located in Salt Lake’s Guadalupe Neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, October 27, 2017—Craft Lake City® has partnered with Giv Group, a local developer and non-profit organization, to create awareness in Utah’s creative community about a new housing complex called Project Open.

Craft Lake City seeks to foster Utah’s art communities and believes quality housing is a component of such fostering. Craft Lake City believes Project Open will provide a unique and moderate housing alternative for Salt Lake City’s artisans, doers, makers and thinkers.

The Project Open apartments, located at 355 North 500 West in Salt Lake’s Guadalupe Neighborhood, will be Utah’s first cost-neutral, net-zero housing project. Project Open is 100% solar powered, within near proximity of frontrunner and trax stations allowing for easily integrated day-to-day sustainability. Residential spaces are pet friendly and demonstrate a visibly economical rental rate ranging from $500-$900 a month, depending on tenant income qualifications. The 112 single bedroom, 664 sq. ft. units will rent quickly.

Project Open resident amenities include:

  • A historic community clubhouse
  • Fully-equipped gym
  • Communal sunset decks
  • Community gardens
  • Rapid EV (Electric Vehicle) charging station
  • Bicycle repair stations
  • Secure parking
  • 14 leasable artist studios (must be a resident of Project Open apartments in order to lease)
Apartment units are also built and equipped with:

  • Expansive windows
  • Ample closet and storage space
  • An oversized tub
  • Granite and quartz countertops
  • Stainless steel appliances
  • A washer and dryer
  • Nest temperature control unit

Applicants should expect to pay a $35 nonrefundable application fee and a $100 deposit is required to reserve specific units. It is Giv Group’s goal to have all apartment units reserved with leases before the Thanksgiving holiday. Ribbon cutting ceremony is set for December 2017 with move-in beginning January 1, 2018.

Craft Lake City’s well-established associations with artists and artisans in Utah, make Craft Lake City the ideal organization to collaborate with Giv Group. Together, they will envision Project Open’s on-site studio space community. Craft Lake City will release a separate application process with parameters and guidelines for these studio spaces, located directly behind the housing complex, above a community clubhouse.  In order to apply for the studio space applicants must be a tenant of Project Open.

Move-in dates for Project Open begin as early as January 1, 2018, and interested future residents of Project Open should contact the Project Open leasing office, (801) 916-5148, between Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by email at projectopen@emg-apts.com. All questions and requests for more information on living at Project Open can also be answered by their leasing office.
