Salt Lake City, March 18 – Craft Lake City® is pleased to announce that Artisan, STEM and Kid Row Scholarship applications are now open for the 13th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons. Interested creatives can apply to participate in the DIY Festival through April 8 at craftlakecity.com/apply, and eligible applicants will be invited to complete scholarship applications by April 16.

The original Artisan Scholarship and Mentor Program was launched in 2017 as part of the organization’s DIY Festival Inclusion Program for the 9th Annual DIY Festival. It offers five eligible first-time DIY Festival artisans with waived participation fees, business training, networking opportunities, and one-on-one mentorship with seasoned creatives before, during and after the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival. In 2021, the program has been expanded to include 10 training sessions to assist scholars with creating a successful creative business plan.

Mentors who participate in the Artisan Scholarship and Mentor Program are seasoned makers and business owners who donate their time in support of the program. “My favorite part about working as a mentor is gaining a new perspective and learning about our artist community.” reported one 2019 mentor. When asked what they gain from this experience many respond that they gain “experience and friends” from the program.

In 2019 Craft Lake City expanded the program to include STEM and Kid Row exhibitors by adding new scholarship opportunities for participants in those categories.
