Perfume & Body Butter Workshop

Craft your own custom natural fragrance in this hands-on workshop led by Tiffany Hardman of Inkling Scents! Tiffany and her sister Sarah created Inkling Scents to offer elegant, long-lasting perfume and cologne made from essential perfume oils and alcohol-free ingredients. Their products have been featured in Women's Health Magazine, Buzzfeed, FabFitFun, Jane.com and Ipsy. In this Craft Lake City workshop, attendees will learn about the benefits of essential oils and the impact of fragrance on the body. Then participants will have the opportunity to create a signature scented perfume and luxurious body butter to take home!

Learn how to add style and flair to your own writing in this hand lettering workshop! Instructor Bre McCallum is a local designer and illustrator with a passion for the art of hand lettering. She specializes in calligraphy, as well as drawing letters in pen and ink. At this workshop presented by Craft Lake City and West Elm, participants will learn how to use simple writing tools to draw contemporary letters. Attendees will then utilize their new skills to create a beautiful hand lettered message on illustration board.

DIY Fest alumna Heather Leeflang’s jewelry is designed to present complex ideas reduced to their most minimal forms. Join us at West Elm City Creek as Heather teaches us to create beautiful earrings by forming linear shapes from copper and brass. Heather will torch the metal prior to the workshop, and each attendee will drill, bend, and pound two pairs of unique, handmade earrings to wear or share.

Natural Indigo Dye & Shibori Workshop

Presented by Craft Lake City and NHMU, this workshop will be taught by Amy Stephens of Root + Rise Botanicals. A specialist in natural wellness and herbal infusions, Stephens will demonstrate how to use natural dyes and fibers to create vibrant cloth products. Attendees will learn about the rich tradition of shibori, the Japanese art of manual resist dyeing using various folding techniques, and then dip and dye their own indigo hand towels. Amy Stephens is a local artisan specializing in natural wellness and herb-based creations. Her company, Root + Rise Botanicals, is a small batch personal care line that provides a vehicle for relaxation and connection to the natural world. Her herb-infused products include oils, balms, powders, and naturally dyed fibers.
