Ben Trentelman – Find Your Rhythm

When I was given the opportunity to design a piece for Craft Lake City’s Celebration of the Hand, I was drawn immediately to how my own hands work to deliver my most effective coping mechanisms and outlets. I find my heart and soul fully occupied with every beat I play on the drums, and I want others to be able to experience as close an experience as I can create. To express yourself artistically, you need to free yourself of inhibitions and be willing to try. I incorporated drums into my piece so participants can publicly declare and pledge to allow themselves to create an exceptional piece of art using their own inner rhythm and creativity to guide them. I hope people leave this piece feeling more enlightened about themselves and how much they are willing to enjoy life. Website: facebook.com/getbentimages

Celebration of the Hand was started by The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change and Craft Lake City in the Summer of 2012 as a way to highlight and showcase the work of local artisans participating in the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Celebration of the Hand pieces are installed into steel Plakats, which are adjacent to the sidewalks on the North and South sides of Broadway (300 South) between 200 West and 200 East.
The exhibit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is free to the public.
