Calling all crafters, creators, and aspiring artists — this is an event you won’t want to miss. Craft Lake City is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Each year Craft Lake City puts on workshops, organizes public art installations, and hosts a Business Academy to help burgeoning local makers grow their business. But their annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival is what really draws a crowd. If you’ve never been, this is a good year to start!The 13th Annual Craft Lake City DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Festival presented by Harmons is coming to Salt Lake City at the Utah State Fairpark on Aug. 13–15 and ticket sales are now live. The DIY Festival is Utah’s largest local-centric, three-day arts festival, with more than 300 local artisans, DIY engineers, performers, vintage vendors, and craft food creators. This year’s festival includes fun, hands-on workshops hosted by passionate instructors who will help you tap into your creative side.Maybe you’d like to learn how to brew the perfect cup of coffee, create your own therapeutic bath bombs, or master the art of natural-dyeing. Whatever your interests may be, Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival workshops will enhance your creative abilities and provide you with the fulfillment of learning a new skill.

Choose from nine hands-on classes hosted by local artisans

This year, the Craft Lake City DIY Festival is proud to present nine fun, hands-on classes with local makers and artisans. These beginner-friendly workshops provide all the necessary supplies and equipment, and they include a take-home item of your own creation. Botanical Burn Wands

Enjoy free access to the DIY Festival when you attend a workshop

Aside from your homemade treasure and freshly-honed crafting skills, there’s an added benefit to signing up for Craft Lake City’s in-person workshops. Your ticket also includes a day pass to the DIY Festival — a $7 to $13 value, depending on which day you attend.

In addition to workshops and the best Utah artisans to shop from, featured areas include Kid Row youth makers (Saturday-only), the Google Fiber STEM Building, Mark Miller Subaru Leave Your Mark Kids’ Area, Best Friends Dog Park and two stages featuring 50+ Utah performers. Friday night will feature musical headliner, Ritt Momney, and Harmons VIP Lounge. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. is Pacific Islander Heritage Day, featuring cultural booths, performances, and food celebrating Utah’s vibrant Pacific Islander community. The DIY Festival is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to support local artists while getting in touch with your own creative side.
