Salt Lake City, Feb 9.–West Elm and Craft Lake City announce the March Gold Leafing workshop with Lisa Lewis of Light & Ink. The workshop will be held on Thursday, March, 3, 2016 at West Elm City Creek from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

As a lifelong admirer of nature, Lisa Lewis started creating stump prints from a tree she climbed as a child. This soon resulted in the creation of Light and Ink, a local company that celebrates nature and simplicity in everyday life. For this workshop, Lewis will teach participants how to use gold leafing to embellish a wood item.

“This is an exciting opportunity to learn a technique used by many designers and artists”, Wesley Spry, Event and Education Coordinator for Craft Lake City says. “For ages interior designers and famous painters like Gustav Klimt have used gold leaf to adorn their work. This workshop will give participants the resources they need to incorporate a timeless art form.”

West Elm, a home furnishings retailer that helps customers shape their personal style in their homes, hosts the Craft Lake City DIY Workshop Series presented by West Elm once a month at the West Elm Salt Lake City location at City Creek center. Craft Lake City and West Elm’s mutual goal is to compel participants of all skillsets to indulge in their creative sides to produce art and stylized home accoutrements.

There is a $30 material fee. Pre-registration is required. Register here.
