CODE OF CONDUCT

Craft Lake City’s mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. One way we achieve our mission is by providing positive growth opportunities for local makers, often by creating opportunities for scientists or artisans to effectively engage and collaborate with Craft Lake City staff, volunteers, other creatives and members of the public in a respectful and professional environment.

Craft Lake City has drafted the following Code of Conduct to serve as a guideline for all program participants in order to nourish a supportive creative community of makers with diverse backgrounds, opinions and experiences. This Code of Conduct may also be used as a basic standard when creatives seek to work with other makers, and/or when presenting or promoting themselves as professionals and business owners.

Code of Conduct:

All members of the Craft Lake City community must lead with respect and kindness. While we may disagree on occasion, Craft Lake City seeks to resolve concerns or issues in a productive, positive, professional and respectful manner. Any inappropriate or unkind behavior toward Craft Lake City staff, volunteers and/or other program participants will not be allowed. Craft Lake City defines inappropriate behavior as that which undermines the spirit of Craft Lake City, including any of the following:

  • Any form of written, verbal or physical abuse or threats
  • The use of derogatory or discriminatory language, gestures or actions
  • Any form of harassment
  • Any form of biases, intolerance, microaggressions relating to a person’s race, sex, religion, etc
  • Any other targeted comments that may violate any local, state or federal laws or cause personal offense to another Craft Lake City staff member, volunteer or participant

Craft Lake City’s creative community extends beyond our event-based programming. Therefore, Craft Lake City may address concerns about inappropriate behavior if it occurs before, during or after a Craft Lake City event, whether in-person in Utah or at satellite events, through social media channels or while engaging in any online aspect of events, or any other method of communication. Craft Lake City may take action at its discretion if any individual(s) or group(s) fail to meet the standards of respect and professionalism outlined in this Code of Conduct, which may result in revoking the violating individual or group’s ability to participate in future Craft Lake City events.
