Partnership & Generosity Coordinator

Reports to Development Coordinator
& Executive Director

Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.

Craft Lake City’s Partnership & Generosity Coordinator will be responsible for soliciting, securing, and managing partnerships , fundraisers, and individual donations for the organization. The Partnership & Generosity Coordinator is a member of Craft Lake City’s Development team, and the goals of the Development team are to establish and build relationships with any and all future and potential donors, sponsors, and community organizations, develop new streams of funding, and fulfill commitments to supporters, thereby supporting the mission of the organization and expanding Craft Lake City’s  impact  on local community through events and educational programming.

The Partnership & Generosity Coordinator will be an asset in paving the way for new and any relevant opportunities to assist in the growth of the organization through the expansion and application of the organization’s mission statement.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivating relationships with sponsors for the annual DIY Festival, Holiday Market, LetterWest and other Craft Lake City events
  • Developing creative new ways to deliver value to partners in exchange for financial and in kind support
  • Identifying new sources of funding via creative outreach
  • Secure sponsors who align with Craft Lake City’s mission and values
  • Track all Sponsorship information in Craft Lake City’s database, including solicitation efforts, communications, outcomes and deliverables
  • Create and execute Partnership agreements 
  • Review marketing materials to ensure that partners  are recognized appropriately 
  • Serve as a Craft Lake City team member and Partnership contact on-site at the Annual DIY Festival & Holiday Market
  • Assist Craft Lake City with Sponsorship -related wrap-up reports and projects after events
  • Sending donor acknowledgements and thank you cards
  • Create and run membership events with the support of the Development Coordinator
  • Create and run fundraising events, i.e., GivingTuesday, Annual Giving Campaign.
  • Compile and present yearly reports based on membership surveys, member numbers, programming & event success, etc., to be presented to Craft Lake City’s Board and other affiliated organization committees and partners.
  • Assist the Development Director with data collection for use in grants and/or proposals.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work 20+ hours per week, with the opportunity of increasing to full-time 
  • Increased hours in July and August
  • Must be available to work extended hours at the Annual DIY Festival the second weekend of August.
  • Must be available to work extended hours at the Annual Holiday Market in Ogden the first weekend in December

Social Media & Marketing Coordinator

Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions and other special events.

Under the direction of Craft Lake City management, the Social Media & Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for public relations, marketing and social media efforts on behalf of Craft Lake City. 

 

Craft Lake City’s Social Media & Marketing Coordinator is enthusiastic about local DIY culture, interested in the nonprofit arts sector, and has a passion for marketing and content creation. The right candidate will have a desire to create clear and creative messaging for diverse audiences and purposes through copywriting, creating marketing campaigns and social media content. The Social Media & Marketing Coordinator will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming and will continually innovate and improve upon our ability to create mission-driven communications that resonate with the media, our social media audiences, newsletter subscribers, website and overall community. This position will develop and execute multiple projects simultaneously, requiring the ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities and being a collaborative team player. This is a full-time, year-round independent contractor position with a weekly time commitment of 40 hours, which begins immediately upon hiring. Willing to increase hours during peak events including the lead up to the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works with senior-level Craft Lake City teamsters to conceptualize and implement communication (short-term and long-term), marketing and outreach plans for Craft Lake City programs and events. 
  • Identifies opportunities to promote Craft Lake City and its programs to new and target audiences.
  • Updates and enforces the Craft Lake City writing style guide for consistent messaging and branding, providing edits on all external copy and communications.
  • Cultivates relationships with local members of the media and serves as a spokesperson on behalf of Craft Lake City when appropriate. Provides direct responses, press releases, story pitches, images and special reports to reporters as needed.
  • Manages and works closely with the Social Media Intern to execute social media strategies, including scheduling, cross-promotion campaigns and influencer partnerships; establishes strategies for increasing social media engagement and following.
  • Coordinates Craft Lake City’s monthly e-newsletter and periodic e-blasts, and develops strategies for increasing Craft Lake City’s newsletter subscriptions.
  • Oversees the collection, management and reporting of data and statistics that measure the success of social media and public relations efforts, primarily by the Social Media Intern. Identifies and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Updates and creates content for the Craft Lake City website by adding press releases and media coverage to the News section of the website. 
  • Ensures a unified, branded voice across all digital platforms 
  • Works with other departments to ensure creation of content for the Craft Lake City blog.
  • Updates community calendars with entries for and information about Craft Lake City events and programs.
  • Participates in outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Craft Lake City team, which may include tabling at community events, networking online and in-person,media appearances and attending CLC programs.
  • Gathers new images and assets for marketing and promotional materials by taking photos of Craft Lake City programming, including workshops and special events.
  • Assists in the design and production of Craft Lake City’s printed and digital promotional materials (brochures, videos, flyers, social media assets, etc.) as needed, including using Photoshop and Illustrator templates. 
  • Coordinates and manages Craft Lake City’s on-site social media team that produces live promotional video content for our social media platforms

Qualifications:

Volunteer Coordinator

Craft Lake City® is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival® held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.

Craft Lake City’s Volunteer Coordinator is a year-round position, responsible for overseeing the planning, recruitment, training, and on-site staffing for Craft Lake City’s major events. It has a general weekly time commitment of up to 10 hours. Weekly time commitments increase as needed leading up to the following events: The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival (August 9-11, 2024, The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market (December 6, 7 2024) and The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest (March 14,15, 2025) The volunteer Coordinator is required to be onsite for the duration of these three events so working long hours on ones feet  in potentially extreme heat and cold are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position. The Volunteer Coordinator is organized, a natural leader, a clear communicator, outgoing and team player with an interest in supporting Utah’s creative community. 

The Volunteer Coordinator will become familiar with all Craft Lake City major events: The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival (August 9-11, 2024, The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market (December 6, 7 2024) and The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest (March 14,15, 2025) and create appropriate volunteer plans to ensure a successful Festival and Holiday Market experience. Reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

-Recruiting individual and group volunteers for all Craft Lake City major events: The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival (August 9-11, 2024, The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market (December 6, 7 2024) and The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest (March 14,15, 2025) 

-Designing and overseeing volunteer sign-up process

-Developing and providing in-depth volunteer training

-Determining volunteer needs of each event

-Creating and overseeing volunteer schedules

-Determining and securing volunteer benefits

-Overseeing volunteer program on-site at the DIY Festival, Holiday Market and community events

-Assisting volunteers as needed

-Creating and distributing a volunteer thank-you and survey after the DIY Festival, Holiday Market and other events where volunteers are staffed.

-Working with the Craft Lake City Team to plan and execute an annual volunteer party 

-Planning volunteer “thank you” call sessions

Qualifications:

-Previous experience working as a volunteer

-Past experience in a management position

-Familiarity with volunteer software preferred

-Leadership experience

-Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.

-Available to access email 2-3 times daily

Brand Ambassador

Brand Ambassadors allow Craft Lake City to share our wonderful programs that we offer with the community, as a non-profit. A Brand Ambassador will be representing our organization through Craft Lake City’s booth outreach program. You will get to engage with the community directly and tell them about all the amazing work that we do! Community Workshop Assistant

Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions and other special events.

The Community Workshop Assistant will be responsible for the on-site coordination of both hands-on or virtual craft workshops in communities throughout Utah. Craft Lake City’s Community Workshop Assistant is interested in the local maker movement, is familiar with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and has a passion for arts education and event management. The Community Workshop Assistant will serve as a public ambassador for Craft Lake City, and will work to ensure a positive, professional and educational experience for workshop instructors, attendees and venue partners.

Responsibilities:
-Serving as a representative and ambassador of Craft Lake City at various community craft workshops during the year
-Fostering positive relationships with workshop instructors and venue partners
-Setting up and breaking down the workshop area in each venue in collaboration with venue contact and instructor
-Assisting workshop instructor with supply load-in, set-up and load-out
-Verifying workshop ticket holders upon arrival (in-person workshops)
-Selling tickets to waitlist participants as necessary
-Providing presentations to attendees about Craft Lake City and upcoming programs
-Maintaining a clean and organized workshop area during the program
-Supporting attendees and instructors during each workshop as needed
-Posting to social media during and after the workshop
-Coordinating attendee surveys at the end of each workshop
-Returning workshop supplies to Craft Lake City headquarters
-Providing photos from the workshop to Craft Lake City
-Adding workshop responses to online form
-Completing post-event workshop assistant online form
-Assisting with post-event reporting as needed

Qualifications:
-Prior experience with event management
-Prior experience or willingness to learn and master online meeting platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.)
-Experience in arts programming preferred
-Exceptional organizational, stress management and customer service skills
-Ability to adapt and be flexible and collaborative in an event-driven, nonprofit environment
-Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
-Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.

Requirements:
-Must attend required meetings and production training
-Must be able to commit to work the public hours of the workshops with additional setup and teardown specific to each program
-Must have your own laptop and vehicle and willingness to use for workshop-related tasks
-Must be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, while simultaneously addressing attendees.
-Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables and other supplies

Seasonal Positions

Join our paid team on a temporary basis and help us produce our exceptional Annual events like the DIY Festival and Holiday Market. It is a great way to earn some extra funds while contributing to something greater in your community!

Event Production Assistant

Craft Lake City is looking for DIY Festival Production Assistants who will work as a team to set up and tear down the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Production Assistant is expected to remain on-site for key dates in the production schedule and to be on-call for troubleshooting issues and supporting the Festival team throughout the Festival dates. The Production Assistant will also have a great chance to work with a supportive team of individuals who allow Craft Lake City to create a unique festival for our community and interact with wonderful Festival volunteers.

This is a contract, festival-specific position with a commitment of working August 9-11, 2024, with additional preparation shifts in the 2-4 weeks prior to the festival and the days immediately following the festival. The DIY Festival Production Assistant is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Fest, so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

Qualifications:

-Must have previous event production experience

-Previous experience working in extreme temperatures and/or inclement weather  

-Exceptional organizational skills & self-discipline

-Must enjoy physically demanding work in a team-centered environment

-Desire to be involved in producing a creative experience for exhibitors and patrons alike

Entertainment Coordinator

This is a seasonal, part-time, contract position with a general weekly time commitment of up to 10 hours. Weekly time commitments increase as needed leading up to the following events: The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival (August 9-11, 20240, The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market (December 6, 7 2024) and The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest (March 14,15, 2025) The Entertainment Coordinator is required to be onsite for the duration of these three events so working long hours on ones feet  in potentially extreme heat and cold are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CLC Team to coordinate and recruit performers/buskers for The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival and The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market
  • Work with the CLC Team as needed to coordinate speakers, instructors and presenters for The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest
  • On-site managing of entertainment logistics during The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival, The Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market and The Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest
  • Ensure that the scheduled lineup is confirmed for events including last minute cancellations and additions 
  • Ensure performers are checked in and checked out on time during events
  • Ensure the entertainment schedule for all stages and performing areas is timely and accurate and listed correctly across all digital and print platforms during events
  • Manage Stage Managers that oversee two independent stages during the Craft Lake City DIY Fest 
  • Ensure the performers arrive onsite and are prepared to load on and off stage
  • Handle the contracts and tax forms of the bands before the event 
  • Pay out the talent according to the set budget after their performance at event
  • Support the CLC Team in marketing and recruiting the “Call for Performers” for all events
  • Work with the CLC Team to notify accepted and rejected DIY Fest performers 
  • Work with the CLC Team to market the finalized line up by coordinating promo playlists, band bios and other miscellaneous tasks

Qualifications:

Festival Zone Manager

Craft Lake City’s Festival Zone Managers serve as the primary point of contact for a large group of exhibitors at the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival. Zone Managers are personable, adaptable, solution-oriented leaders with excellent customer service skills and an interest in supporting Utah’s DIY businesses. 

Responsibilities:

-Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for artisans at the DIY Fest in your assigned zone, offering excellent customer service to ensure a positive festival experience for all participants

-Support artisans in your zone throughout the weekend, including answering questions, helping to troubleshoot issues, and escalating any special needs or concerns to management as necessary

-Play a key role in the load-in and load-out logistics for artisans in your zone, including volunteer training and management

-Create, organize, and distribute artisan lanyards and signage

-Assist the Craft Lake City team with setting up and breaking down DIY Fest signage and equipment before, during, and after the DIY Fest

-Assist in other areas of the DIY Fest as needed throughout the weekend

Qualifications:

-2 years of management or leadership experience 

-Festival, large event and/or crowd management experience preferred

-Exceptional customer service, problem-solving and communication skills

-Organized, collaborative and self-disciplined

-Ability to adapt in an event-driven, nonprofit environment

-Available to read and respond to email 2–3 times per day 

-Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs

-Must be able to stand on their feet for upwards of 10 hours a day

-Must be able to endure summer temperatures of 90 degrees and above 

Requirements:

-Seasonal, contract position with the ability to work in-house at our offices 1-5 hours per week starting in July with hours increasing in August

-Must attend all staff meetings and trainings

-Must be able to commit to working the DIY Festival week August 5th-12th 2024 and DIY Festival weekend, Friday August 9th, Saturday August 10th, and Sunday August 11th, 2023

Craft Lake City is looking for cashiers who are wonderfully enthusiastic and can provide great customer service at our 16th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented by Harmons. Cashiers will assist with the handling of transactions at entry gates and other areas throughout the market and champion the genuine, thoughtful sale of Craft Lake City offerings. Cashiers are responsible for providing exceptional guest service and helpful information to patrons and visitors of the DIY Festival. As a cashier, you’ll also have a chance to work with a supportive team of individuals that allow Craft Lake City to create a unique Festival for our community. 

This is a seasonal contract position for the DIY Festival held Friday August 9th, Saturday August 10th, and Sunday August 11th at the Utah state fairpark. Cashiers are required to be on site for extended hours during the festival, so working long hours in extreme heat are factors you should consider when applying for this position.

Training will be provided.

Qualifications:

-Basic math skills

-Great under pressure and has stress management abilities

-Knows how to provide spectacular customer service

-Has 1+ years experience with retail, sales and cash handling

-Previous experience with Square POS is a bonus

-Previous experience with large events would be preferred 

-Honesty and integrity when it comes to handling cash and card transactions and/or any personal information

-Ability to professionally interact with festival patrons and staff 

-Ability to passionately communicated & sale Craft Lake City product offerings

-Great at communication and problem-solving skills

-Ability to adapt and be flexible when necessary to help other team members

-Ability to think quickly and resolve problems that may arise with an outdoor event

-Must be punctual

-Knows how to spell “team player” without an “I” or “me”
