Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization that lives to champion the local maker scene. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. Job Opportunities

  • Festival Entertainment Coordinator
    Craft Lake City is looking for an Entertainment Coordinator to manage the talent lineup for the DIY Festival. The Entertainment Coordinator is expected to remain on-site managing logistics for the three-day festival ensuring that the scheduled lineup is confirmed, check-in and check-out of performers is executed, and that entertainment schedule for two stages is timely and accurate. The Entertainment Coordinator will be responsible for managing two Stage Managers that will oversee the bands loading on and off stage, handling the contracts and tax forms of the bands before the event as well as paying out the talent according to the set budget after the event is over. The Entertainment Coordinator will also have the chance to work with a supportive team of individuals that allow Craft Lake City to create a unique festival that celebrates the local performer community.

    This is a summer seasonal, part-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of up to 5 hours, with weekly time commitments increasing in July and August leading up to the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The DIY Festival Entertainment Coordinator is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Festival, so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

    Qualifications:
    -Must have previous event production experience

  • Production Coordinator
    Craft Lake City is looking for DIY Festival Production Coordinators who will work as a team to set up and tear down the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Production Coordinator is expected to remain on-site for key dates in the production schedule and to be on-call for troubleshooting issues and supporting the Festival team throughout the Festival dates. The Production Coordinator will also have a great chance to work with a supportive team of individuals that allow Craft Lake City to create a unique a festival for our community and interact with wonderful Festival volunteers.

    This is a spring/summer seasonal, part-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of up to 5 hours, in the weeks leading up to the festival. Weekly time commitments will increase in June, July and August leading up to the Craft Lake City DIY Festival including working the Festival setup and teardown: August 5-13. The DIY Festival Production Coordinator is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Festival, so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

  • Production Team Assistant

  • Bounce House Attendant
    Craft Lake City is looking for a Kids’ Area Bounce House Attendant, who is an enthusiastic individual and has the ability to kindly enforce the “un-fun” rules for the bounce house in order to create a safe environment for the many children that attend the festival. The Bounce House Attendant will have the opportunity to work with volunteers, staff, families and visitors of the DIY Festival to help create the wonderful, fun, and safe atmosphere.

    This is a festival weekend contract position for August 9th, 10th, and 11th. The Kids’ Area Bounce House Attendant is required to be on-site for the duration of the DIY Festival, so working long hours in extreme heat with loud noise are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

    Training will be provided.

  • Festival Controller
    Craft Lake City is looking for a Festival Controller who has proven organizational and money management skills to assist with financial management at our Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Festival Controller position requires an individual who is extremely organized, patient and honest whilst managing necessary and sensitive data and money as well. You will support the Festival Finance Team to create a wonderful and supportive atmosphere for all departments, ensuring security and success of the DIY Festival.

    The Festival Controller will be responsible for working with the Finance Team during the Festival, managing cash flow and monitoring activity to ensure smooth Festival operations. The Festival Controller will also be responsible for keeping accurate records to facilitate post-Festival financial reconciliation. You’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple teams and provide guidance to accomplish orderly money management in all departments, onsite at the DIY Festival.

    This is a seasonal, contract position with a commitment to predetermined training dates and meetings. Festival Controllers are required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Festival weekend, so working long hours are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

    Qualifications:
    -Has 2–4 years experience with bookkeeping and/or accounting
    -Exceptional organizational skills & self-discipline
    -Honesty and integrity when it comes to handling cash, card transactions and/or any personal information

    -Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc. for inventory and sales reporting, etc.
    -Ability to adapt and be flexible to the various tasks and situations of a not-for-profit world

    -Ability to be discreet and sensitive to the data and numbers that are associated with handling and managing finances and department information
    -Excellent communication abilities for onsite needs and coordination during the festival

  • Festival Cashier
    Craft Lake City is looking for cashiers who are wonderfully enthusiastic and can provide great customer service at our 2019 DIY Festival. Cashiers will assist with the handling of transactions at entry gates and other areas throughout the festival and champion the genuine, thoughtful sell of Craft Lake City offerings. Cashiers are responsible for providing exceptional guest service and helpful information to patrons and visitors of the DIY Festival. As a cashier, you’ll also have a chance to work with a supportive team of individuals that allow Craft Lake City to create a unique festival for our community.

    This is a seasonal contract position for the DIY Festival held on Friday August 9th, Saturday August 10th, and Sunday August 11th, 2019. Cashiers are required to be on site extended hours during the festival, so working long hours in extreme heat are factors you should consider when applying for this position.

    Training will be provided.

    Qualifications:
    -Basic math skills
    -Great under pressure and has stress management abilities
    -Knows how to provide spectacular customer service
    -Has 1+ years experience with retail, sales and cash handling
    -Previous experience with Square POS is a bonus
    -Previous experience with large events would be preferred
    -Honesty and integrity when it comes to handling cash and card transactions and/or any personal information
    -Ability to professionally interact with festival patrons and staff

  • DIY Festival Traffic Attendant
    Craft Lake City is looking for DIY Festival Traffic Attendant to assist with festival load-in on Thursday, August 8th 2019. The Traffic Controller will be on-site from 9am-5pm, managing the flow of traffic into the Fairpark for artisan & food-truck drop-off of supplies.

    This is a contract, short-term position with commitment of working Thursday, August 8th 2019 from 8am-5pm. The DIY Festival Traffic Controller will be outside for the entirety of the day (breaks provided), so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

  • Community Events Assistant
    The Community Events Assistant will be responsible for the support and/or on-site coordination of outreach events in communities throughout Utah. Craft Lake City’s Community Event Assistant is interested in the local maker movement, is familiar with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and has a passion for sales and event management. The Community Event Assistant will serve as a public ambassador for Craft Lake City, and will work to ensure a positive experience for community event attendees and partners.

    Responsibilities
    -Serving as a representative and ambassador of Craft Lake City at various community outreach events during the year
    -Setting up and breaking down Craft Lake City’s table or booth in each venue
    -Interacting with the public to promote Craft Lake City programs
    -Selling Craft Lake City merchandise and tickets to meet internal sales goals
    -Coordinating craft activities for the public at certain community events
    -Managing volunteers as necessary
    -Maintaining a clean and organized area during the event
    -Sending images and info to CLC’s social media manager during the event
    -Returning all event supplies to CLC headquarters
    -Providing photos from the outreach event to CLC
    -Assisting with post-event reporting as needed

    Qualifications:
    -Prior experience with event coordination
    -Experience in sales and/or arts programming preferred
    -Exceptional organizational and customer service skills
    -Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
    -Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
    -Ability to adapt and be flexible in an event-driven, nonprofit environment

    -This is a seasonal, part-time position with hours that fluctuate depending on CLC’s schedule of special events.

If you are interested in working with Craft Lake City on a regular basis, consider joining our volunteer Marketing Team! Our Marketing Team helps represent Craft Lake City at community events such as the Downtown Farmers Market, Arts Day on the Hill and the Pierpont Gallery Stroll, just to name a few. Marketing Team members play a critical role by helping to educate the public about Craft Lake City and its programs. Team members attend regular Marketing Team meetings and trainings and participate in events throughout the year. Duties may include assisting with table/booth setup, staffing the booth to represent Craft Lake City and educate others, and working with the public to create make-and-take crafts.
