Development Coordinator
Craft Lake City is looking for an Development Coordinator to join our office team. This position will be responsible for identifying and securing funding for Craft Lake City’s many programs through grant writing, sponsorship asks and fundraising. The position will also oversee data collection and reporting for the organization, including producing Craft Lake City’s Annual Report. This is a full-time, contractor position with a weekly time commitment of 40 hours, which begins immediately upon hiring.
Craft Lake City’s Development Coordinator is community-minded, interested in local DIY culture, familiar with Craft Lake City and its programs and, above all, has a passion for writing. The Development Coordinator will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming and continually innovate and improve upon our ability to craft a narrative that resonates with funders. The Development Coordinator will develop and track multiple funding projects simultaneously, requiring the ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities.
The Development Coordinator leads Craft Lake City’s Development team, including supervising the Sponsorship & Generosity Coordinator. The goals of the Development team are to establish and build relationships with any and all future and potential donors, sponsors, and community organizations, develop new streams of funding, and fulfill commitments to supporters, thereby supporting the mission of the organization and expanding Craft Lake City’s impact on the local community through events and educational programming.
The Development Coordinator will be an asset in paving the way for new and any relevant opportunities to assist in the growth of the organization through the expansion and application of the organization’s mission statement.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying grant opportunities, writing grants, soliciting sponsorships, meeting with potential donors and managing follow-up
- Clarifying messaging for Craft Lake City programs
- Support Executive Director with creating and managing program budgets for grant submissions
- Ensure accurate financial reporting of grantee awards in Quickbooks
- Collecting and managing data and statistics that support Craft Lake City’s funding requests
- Ensure Craft Lake City programming meets funding requirements as outlined in contracts, funding agreements, and award letters
- Creating grants checklist to ensure staff are meeting grant requirements for every program
- Manage Sponsorship & Generosity Coordinator position
- Cultivating relationships with funders for the annual DIY Festival and other Craft Lake City events
- Developing creative new ways to deliver value to partners in exchange for financial support
- Identifying new sources of funding via creative outreach
- Monitoring grant performance and fulfillment
- Tracking funding and related commitments over time
- Generating content for Craft Lake City’s annual report
- Review marketing materials to ensure that funders are recognized appropriately
- Sending donor acknowledgements and thank you cards
- Execute fundraising events, i.e., GivingTuesday, Annual Giving Campaign.
- Compile and present yearly reports based on membership surveys, member numbers, programming & event success, etc., to be presented to Craft Lake City’s Board and other affiliated organization committees and partners.
- Serve as Craft Lake City Advisory Board Finance Committee Liaison
Qualifications:

Outreach Assistant
Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.
The Outreach Assistant will be responsible for the support and/or on-site coordination of outreach events in communities throughout Utah. Craft Lake City’s Outreach Assistant is interested in the local maker movement, is familiar with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and has a passion for merchandising, sales and event management. The Outreach Assistant will serve as a public ambassador for Craft Lake City, and will work to ensure a positive experience for community event attendees and partners. This position will also assist in a supportive role to the Volunteer Coordinator and Craft Lake City Volunteer Department. The Outreach Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the check-in, training, and coordination of volunteers on-site during the annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival, along with supporting our Brand Ambassador Program and volunteer efforts throughout the year. The Outreach Assistant is organized, a natural leader, a clear communicator, outgoing and team player with an interest in supporting Utah’s creative community. This staff member will become familiar with all DIY Festival departments and assist in appropriate volunteer training and management to ensure a successful Festival experience. Additionally, the Outreach Assistant will support other departments during the event, providing breaks, added support, and quality customer service to artisans, exhibitors, performers, and attendees.
The Outreach Assistant reports to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Responsibilities
-Serving as a representative and ambassador of Craft Lake City at various community outreach events during the year (such as farmers markets, Craft Lake City workshops, local street fairs, etc.)
-Cultivating leads for the organization (sponsors, donors, potential exhibitors, newsletter subscribers, etc.) while representing Craft Lake City at events
-Setting up and breaking down Craft Lake City’s table or booth in each venue
-Interacting with the public to promote Craft Lake City programs
-Selling Craft Lake City merchandise and tickets to meet internal sales goals
-Coordinating craft activities for the public at certain community events
-Recruiting, training and managing Brand Ambassadors as necessary to assist with Craft Lake City outreach events
-Maintaining a clean and organized area during the event
-Sending images and info to CLC’s PR & Social Media coordinator during the event
-Returning all event supplies to CLC headquarters
-Assisting with post-event reporting as needed
-Assisting the Artisan & Programs department with additional miscellaneous clerical event prep tasks as needed (such as Zone Manager prep, craft workshop kit assembly, etc.)
-Assisting the Volunteer Coordinator with managing volunteers during events
-Providing breaks for the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff members during events
-Assisting with decor install and maintenance of Volunteer Lounge including restocking snack, drinks, maps, handbills, and other materials needed by volunteers during events
-Posting on social media about Craft Lake City’s participation in partner events
Qualifications:
–This position requires a flexible schedule in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate special events
with partners in the community
-Develop and oversee events and event partnerships to further increase Craft Lake City’s physical presence
in the community
-The job requires someone with the physical ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds as necessary
-Customer service experience

Requirements:
-Must attend required meetings and trainings
-Must be able to commit to working DIY Festival hours
-Must be able to work long hours (10+) in outdoor summer temperatures
-Must be able to commit to scheduled work hours, attend volunteer trainings, approximately 5-10 hours per week with increased hours during summer event season
-Must be a self-starter, someone who can take the lead when needed and can be counted on to complete tasks from beginning to end.

Social Media Internship
Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions and other special events.
Craft Lake City® is looking for a Social Media Intern to assist with promotion and marketing efforts on behalf of Craft Lake City, including our Fifth Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market Presented By Google Fiber.
The Social Media Intern position will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the organization. Working with the Craft Lake City team, you will support key communications functions such as content creation to help achieve our vision. This individual excels at providing innovative ideas and drafting creative messaging for diverse audiences. The Social Media Intern will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming and will work to collaboratively innovate and improve upon our ability to strategize mission-driven communications that resonate with the community.
This position is one year long, 10 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Marketing and Communications Coordinator in generating social media content for the promotion of Craft Lake City workshops and other programming.
- Drafting posts that go out daily on all Craft Lake City channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
- Assisting the Marketing and Communications Coordinator in creating content on-site at events including the Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market and the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival.
- Analyzing social media data and creating a monthly social media report to present to the Executive Director and Artisan & Programs Department.
- Implementing short-term and long-term communication strategies that meet organizational goals.
- Identifying opportunities to promote Craft Lake City and its programs to target audiences and media outlets.
- Following the Craft Lake City brand style guide for consistent messaging and branding.
- Collecting and managing data and statistics that measure the success of communication efforts.
- Identifying new ways to engage with Salt Lake City’s communities.
- Contributing to Craft Lake City’s interaction with clients, the media and the general public.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Marketing or Communication.

Brand Ambassador

Brand Ambassadors allow Craft Lake City to share our wonderful programs that we offer with the community, as a non-profit. A Brand Ambassador will be representing our organization through Craft Lake City’s booth outreach program. You will get to engage with the community directly and tell them about all the amazing work that we do! Community Workshop Assistant
Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions and other special events.
The Community Workshop Assistant will be responsible for the on-site coordination of both hands-on or virtual craft workshops in communities throughout Utah. Craft Lake City’s Community Workshop Assistant is interested in the local maker movement, is familiar with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and has a passion for arts education and event management. The Community Workshop Assistant will serve as a public ambassador for Craft Lake City, and will work to ensure a positive, professional and educational experience for workshop instructors, attendees and venue partners.
Responsibilities:
-Serving as a representative and ambassador of Craft Lake City at various community craft workshops during the year
-Fostering positive relationships with workshop instructors and venue partners
-Setting up and breaking down the workshop area in each venue in collaboration with venue contact and instructor
-Assisting workshop instructor with supply load-in, set-up and load-out
-Verifying workshop ticket holders upon arrival (in-person workshops)
-Selling tickets to waitlist participants as necessary
-Providing presentations to attendees about Craft Lake City and upcoming programs
-Maintaining a clean and organized workshop area during the program
-Supporting attendees and instructors during each workshop as needed
-Posting to social media during and after the workshop
-Coordinating attendee surveys at the end of each workshop
-Returning workshop supplies to Craft Lake City headquarters
-Providing photos from the workshop to Craft Lake City
-Adding workshop responses to online form
-Completing post-event workshop assistant online form
-Assisting with post-event reporting as needed
Qualifications:
-Prior experience with event management
-Prior experience or willingness to learn and master online meeting platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.)
-Experience in arts programming preferred
-Exceptional organizational, stress management and customer service skills
-Ability to adapt and be flexible and collaborative in an event-driven, nonprofit environment
-Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
-Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
Requirements:
-Must attend required meetings and production training
-Must be able to commit to work the public hours of the workshops with additional setup and teardown specific to each program

-Must be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, while simultaneously addressing attendees.

Seasonal Positions

Ticketing and Gates Manager
Craft Lake City is looking for a Ticketing & Gates Manager for our Ticketing & Gates Team. The Ticketing & Gates Manager will be responsible for team preparations & standards, managing the training of the cashier team, configuring and testing POS systems, and working on-site for the duration of our festivals to ensure the department runs smoothly and successfully.
This is a year-round, part-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of 15-20 hours per week for Festival preparation, with hours increasing as the festival draws closer. Weekly time commitments will begin in May and lead up to the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival the second week of August, as well as the Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market in Ogden, Utah the first weekend of December.
The Ticket and Finance Manager is required to be on-site for the duration of the DIY Festival, so working long hours are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position. 10-20 post-festival and Holiday Market hours per week will also be required for inventory reconciliation & other wrap up tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain ticketing operations and reporting for all events for Craft Lake City
- Communicate regularly with CLC staff, ticketing staff, vendors, and other affiliated parties
- Assist with event programming, ticket holds, ticket accounts and other ticket details
- Manage patron facing customer service needs as it relates to ticketing
- Communicate regularly and assist internal departments and external event personnel with any ticketing needs and concerns
- Attend all relevant meetings, functions and discussions
- Act as manager and liaison at events including but limited to Sales, Guest List, Operations, Cash Management, Reporting and Customer Service
- Assist with monitoring of ticket sales and maintenance of ticketing system
- Track and reconcile ticket stock inventory
- Maintain accurate accounting records and archives, compliance
- Receive and maintain ticket fulfillment and process invoices to completion
- Monitor supplies and equipment, as well as, report and follow up on any ticketing repair issues
- All duties as assigned by management
- Work with CLC management and ticketing vendor to set-up events, place holds, process orders and release tickets in a timely fashion
Qualifications:
-2-3 years experience as a box office manager or representative, including management level work experience
-Ability to lead a team under pressure; has strong stress management abilities
-HONESTY—especially when it comes to handling cash and card transactions and/or any personal information
-Professionally interact with Festival patrons and visitors
-Excellent at listening, taking direction
-Ability to adapt and be flexible when necessary to help other team members
-Ability to think quickly and resolve problems that may arise with an outdoor event
-Must be punctual
-Impeccable customer service skills
-Excellent communication abilities
-Knows how to spell “team player” without an “I” or “me”
-Previous experience with Square POS (Point of Sale) platform/software is a bonus
-Previous experience with Google Drive, Docs, & Sheets desired
-Previous experience with large events desired
Requirements:
-Must have flexibility/willingness to work in-house at the Craft Lake City office 5-15 hours per week, with start date in April/May
-Must be able to commit to working the DIY Festival weekend, Friday. August 9, Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 2024 as well as the Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market in Ogden, Utah on Friday December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2024.
-Must have flexibility/willingness to complete 10-20 post festival and holiday market hours
-Must have own cell phone and laptop computer, with willingness to use for Craft Lake City tasks
