Job Title: Virtual Volunteer Ambassador
Purpose: Without the virtual support from volunteers, our staff could not manage to ensure the Virtual 12th Annual Craft Lake City® DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons remains a safe and inclusive environment for attendees and participants. By representing the organization through Craft Lake City’s virtual volunteer program as a Virtual Volunteer Ambassador, you will get to engage with a diverse creative cyber community and show support for local artisans safely from your own home! This is a great way to be more involved with Craft Lake City and help us further our mission of elevating the creative culture of the Utah Arts community. You will receive many thanks and smiles for your assistance, get a behind-the-scenes virtual experience of the Festival, interact with artisans, make new friends, and show your support of our local art economy.
Location: The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador represents the organization as a personalized virtual avatar during the Craft Lake City Virtual DIY Festival August 7 – 9th.
• The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador serves as a representative of Craft Lake City as a personalized virtual avatar assigned to a gallery during a 2-hour shift during the Virtual DIY Festival
• Interacts with artisans during slow periods to ensure they are having a good experience and provide positive feedback
• Greet and interact with the participants as they virtually enter galleries
• Monitor the platform and alert Craft Lake City staff for any virtual trolls, offensive language and lewd comments
• Visit Craft Lake City YouTube Entertainment page and leave behind positive comments to increase performer recognition and attendee engagement
• Provide support and general information to artisans when necessary
• Promote the Virtual 12th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival on personal social media pages in advance and during the Virtual Festival
• Maintaining a safe and inclusive virtual environment during the event
• Have fun helping safely using personal laptop or desktop computer from home
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Length of appointment: The Virtual Volunteer Ambassador assists for a minimum of a 2-hour shift during the Virtual Festival.
Time Commitment: 2-hour shift but you are welcome to volunteer for more than one!
Qualifications: An interest in creating meaningful experience between Craft Lake City and the community. Passion in helping the local makers movement and interest in promoting Craft Lake City’s mission. Pleasant manner, technologically savvy, dependability and ability to virtually engage with a wide diversity of individuals and age groups.
Support: Training for this position is required. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator and Craft Lake City staff will be available for questions and assistance during the Virtual DIY Festival.

Artisan & Programs Intern
Craft Lake City is looking for a new volunteer intern to join our office team. This volunteer intern will support the Craft Lake City Artisan & Programs Manager and other key staff members with the daily operations of the organization. The intern should have an interest in the local maker movement, familiarity with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and a desire to gain experience in nonprofit arts administration and event support.
Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.
Intern Title: Artisan & Programs Intern
Reports to: Artisan & Programs Manager
Commitment: One year, 10 hours/week
-Support Craft Lake City management and staff with a variety of daily tasks, including data entry, correspondence, report drafting and event preparation.
-Update online community calendars with upcoming CLC events each month.
-Scan artisan paperwork and file into appropriate online folders.
-Prepare post-event reports for venue partners, grants and sponsors.
-Digitize survey responses from community events and workshops.
-Assist with counting, organizing, and preparing supplies for CLC events.
-Draft thank-you notes and other correspondence.
-Serve as a public representative of Craft Lake City at select events, assisting with setting up and breaking down as needed.
-Assist with creating event-related graphics for social media use.
DIY Festival Responsibilities
-Support Artisan & Program Manager with outreach and application follow-up.
-Provide assistance for related trainings and programs, including support for RSVPs, nametags, meeting materials, checklists, inventory, etc.
-Update exhibitor profiles on the website with cancellations and replacements.
-Attend the DIY Festival as a Craft Lake City volunteer team member (Aug 4-11 2020), assisting as needed.
-Positive and excited to support the local creative community
-Organizational skills and attention to detail
-Customer service experience
-Maturity and ability to professionally represent Craft Lake City
-Desire to help with tasks ranging from data entry to in-person event support
-Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
-Knows how to spell “team player” without an “I” or “me”
-Flexible and willing to adapt to the various tasks and situations of a not-for-profit world
-Ability to bring your thoughts and ideas to the table in a constructive manner, and open to receiving constructive criticism on your own work
-Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
-Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, social media, or website management a plus
-Must attend required meetings and trainings
-Must be able to commit to scheduled work hours, approximately 10 hours per week
-Must have your own laptop
-Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables, and other supplies
Craft Lake City fosters a highly creative, collaborative and professional team. This is a volunteer internship position.
Craft Lake City is looking for a videographer intern who is passionate about the DIY culture and is looking to build a killer portfolio. The primary responsibility is to conceptualize and execute the creation and production of multimedia products that will help expand Craft Lake City’s brand, influence the maker community, and reach a new and changing audience. This is an entry-level volunteer position for someone looking to build a portfolio and gain professional experience in a non-profit environment.
-Ideate, shoot, edit and produce impactful video content.
-Collaborates with subject matter consultants and Craft Lake City staff to evaluate and plan productions.
-Ability to shoot workshops, promotional and b-roll footage as well as all post-production responsibilities.
- Ensures lighting positions, sound enhancements, and proper recording equipment are in place to capture the best images.
-Responsible for editing all media/audio including transitions, graphics, lower thirds, titles, color correction, and sweetening of the audio to create a professional video product.
-Responsible for equipment including all camera, lighting, audio, editing hardware and software.
-Assist Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival Team in filming, editing and posting footage associated with producing the virtual version of the 12th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival
-Learn about and help maintain our team culture and uphold our values through creative ways.
-Working towards bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication or Video Production; OR experience performing described duties required.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X or After Effects
-Proficient with Google Suite and Project related software.
-Thorough understanding of and ability to use basic video production equipment.
-Thorough understanding of artistic styles, techniques, methodologies, and effects used within video production.
-Must have your own, camera, recording equipment, computer and cell phone
-Available 10-15 hours per week as needed, depending on the project
-Ability to check email/communication platforms twice daily with flexibility to address any time-sensitive items

Web Developer Intern
Craft Lake City is looking for an intern web developer who is passionate about the DIY culture and is looking to build a killer portfolio. We are looking for a talented web developer to create secure and functional code. You may have to provide quality coding solutions both for simple applications and complex information or operating systems.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and the Craft Lake City brand. The goal is to design and build a superior and innovative online experience by writing clean and flawless code. This is an entry-level volunteer position for someone looking to build a portfolio and gain professional experience in a non-profit environment.
-Collaborate with Craft Lake City and developers to produce a unique online experience.
-Monitor user’s online experience and work closely with CLC developer team to fix bugs
-Formulate program specifications and basic prototypes
-Transform designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language
-Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
-Collaborate with technical writers to create documentation for user support
-Proven experience as a programmer or relevant role
-Ability to program in languages such as C++, Java (J2EE), XML etc.
-Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework
-Excellent knowledge with relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies
-Experience with installing Wordpress templates, wordpress plugins, etc.
-Detail-oriented and excellent concentration ability
-An analytical mindset and critical thinking
-Demonstrable ability to discover and fix errors in code
-Coursework in computer science, web development or relevant discipline
