Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization that lives to champion the local maker scene. Craft Lake City’s flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibits, and other special events. We’re currently hiring for year-round roles (part-time & full-time) as well as seasonal contract positions. Programs Administrator

Reports to Artisans & Programs Manager
Craft Lake City is looking for a Programs Administrator to join our office team. This position will support the Craft Lake City Artisan & Programs Manager, Executive Director and other key staff members with the daily operations of the organization and its programs. The main focuses of the Programs Administrator include but are not limited to managing year-round craft workshops, supporting artisans for LetterWest, the DIY Festival and Holiday Market, and curating outdoor exhibitions.The applicant should have an interest in the local maker movement, familiarity with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and a desire to gain experience in nonprofit arts administration and event support.Â
This is a full-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of 40 hours, which begins immediately upon hiring. Weekly time commitments will increase in several months in the year leading up various Craft Lake City events including LetterWest, the DIY Festival and Holiday Market. The Programs Administrator is required to be on-site for the duration of LetterWest, the DIY Festival and Holiday Market, so working long hours in extreme heat (DIY Fest) and cold (Holiday Market, LetterWest) are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.
Responsibilities:
Craft Workshops:
- Curate dozens of community-based craft workshops per yearÂ
- Recruit, hire, train and pay artisan instructors
- Recruit, train, manage, schedule and pay a team of workshop assistants
- Periodically attend craft workshops as a sub or for staff training
- Manage supplies for workshops from ordering to packaging to distribution
- Monitor ticket sales and promotion
- Generate reports identifying outcomes of each workshop
Events:
DIY Festival & Holiday Market:
- Support Artisan and Programs Manager with artisan outreach and coordination from applications to festival set up
- Serve as a public representative of Craft Lake City at virtual and in-person eventsÂ
- Coordinate DIY Stations
- Train, support and manage zone managers at events
- Attend the DIY Festival and Holiday Market as a Craft Lake City team member, assisting as needed with set up, on-site coordination and breakdown
LetterWest:
- Support event workshops from set up to tear down
- Assist in workshop planning, supply management from ordering to packing to distribution
- Attend LetterWest as a Craft Lake City team member, assisting as needed with set up, on-site coordination and breakdown
Outdoor Exhibitions:
- Support the Artisans and Programs manager in curating and executing outdoor exhibitions, Celebration of the Hand and Local Voices.Â
- Collaborate with artists, sponsors, partners and representatives from local organizations
- Oversee the production and installation process as needed
- Support in coordinating exhibition virtual discussions including booking guest speakers, preparing slideshows and promoting to the community
Other Responsibilities:
- Support Craft Lake City management and staff with a variety of daily tasks, including data entry, correspondence, social media, and office and file organization
- Serve as a public representative of Craft Lake City at select events, both virtual and in-person, assisting with event set up and breakdown as needed
- Support Craft Lake City team with artisan outreach as directed, including conducting research, attending events and contacting potential participants for programs and events
- Running tech for Zoom sessions / virtual programmingÂ
- Support Craft Lake City Teamsters in other departments on a case-by-case basis as needed
Qualifications:
- Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
- Positive attitude and excited to support the local creative community
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lead projects from ideation to implementation to completion
- Ability to manage a team of workshop assistants and event zone managers
- Customer service experience
- Good presentation, marketing and networking skills
- Good research, analysis, organizational and reporting skills
- Ability to accurately document and maintain pertinent information
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate across a variety of audiences
- Maturity and ability to professionally represent Craft Lake City
- Desire to help with tasks ranging from data entry to in-person event support
- Comfortable building and maintaining relationships with artisans on the phone, via email, on social media and in-person
- Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
- Knows how to spell “team player” without an “I” or “me”
- Flexible and willing to adapt to the various tasks and situations of a not-for-profit world
- Ability to bring thoughts and ideas to the table in a constructive manner, and open to receiving constructive criticism

- Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, social media or website management a plus
Requirements:
- Must attend required meetings and trainings
- Must be able to commit to scheduled work hours, 40 hours per week (some nights and weekends depending on the year)
- Must be a self-starter, someone who can take the lead when needed and can be counted on to complete tasks from beginning to end
- Must have your own laptop and cell phone
- Must have your own car to transport supplies to off-site events
- Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables, and other supplies up to 20 lbs

Social Media Internship

Commitment: One year, 10 hours/week
Overview: Craft Lake City Social Media Internships provide digital marketers with professional experience. From learning the fundamentals of social media strategy and market research to content creation and community engagement, Craft Lake City offers Social Media Interns the opportunity to be part of a non-profit organization that works to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City fosters a highly skilled, creative, energized and empowered team. This is a year-long, volunteer internship position.
The Social Media Intern position plays a key role in the continued growth and success of the organization. Working with the Craft Lake City team, this position will support key communications functions such as content creation to help achieve our vision. The ideal candidate excels at providing creative ideas and drafting engaging messaging for diverse audiences. The Social Media Intern will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming and will work to collaboratively innovate and improve upon our ability to strategize and execute mission-driven communications that resonate with the community and provide measurable results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively managing and creating communication strategies, both short- and long-term, to align with organizational goals.
- Drafting and scheduling daily social media posts across Craft Lake City’s channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn) while adhering to the brand style guide for consistent messaging.
- Brainstorming and developing social media-related projects and campaigns.
- Assisting with the pitching, editing and posting of video and photo content shot with a phone.
- Support external communications by engaging with the online community, including responding to direct messages and comments on social media platforms, Tidio (website messenger) and voicemails on behalf of the organization.
- Analyzing social media performance and engagement metrics, and preparing a monthly report for the Executive Director and Artisan & Programs Department.
- Exploring and researching new ways to engage with Salt Lake City communities.
- Assisting with various tasks related to marketing, events and social media as needed.
- Adding Craft Lake City events and opportunities to community calendars.
- Collaborating with the Artisan & Programs Manager to create social media strategies and maintain a content calendar for consistent posting.
- Collaborating with the Artisan & Programs Manager to generate social media content for promoting workshops and other Craft Lake City programming.
- Collaborating with marketing and design teams on digital campaigns to ensure timely delivery and high-quality content.”
- Identifying opportunities to promote Craft Lake City’s programs to target audiences and media outlets.
- Collecting and managing data to measure the success of communication efforts.
- Supporting live event coverage and content creation on social media platforms.
- Assisting the Artisan & Programs Department in planning and creating content on-site at events such as the LetterWest, DIY Festival and Holiday Market
