Tri-Color Gnocchi WorkshopÂ

Join us as we explore Argentina’s tasty Italian import, gnocchi pasta with instructor Ana Valdemoros. Participants will get to learn how to craft three vegetarian-friendly recipes for the pillowy pasta dumplings, using potatoes, beets and spinach to create three vibrant varieties. Workshop attendees will then master new techniques as they mix, cut, fold and cook the gnocchi. The workshop will conclude with attendees enjoying their culinary creations with delicious sauce prepared by Ana. You’ll want to serve gnocchi with every dish after this class!

Led by local printmaker Taelor Worthington of Tae Worth Studio at the PBS Utah News Studio, this beginner-friendly workshop guides participants through the full process of relief printmaking—from carving a design into a soft-cut block to inking and printing on stone-inspired, fine art paper.

Join us for an evening of creativity at our Travel Notebook Binding Workshop, taught by local artist Shelby Pence of Shelby ARTifacts at the PBS Utah News Studio!  In this hands-on workshop, Shelby will guide you through the process of transforming a repurposed book cover into a customizable, refillable travel journal—perfect for travelers documenting your adventures, sketching on the go or preserving keepsakes. You’ll learn techniques for securing pages while creating a flexible design that allows you to easily insert and remove pages. Plus, you’ll tailor the contents of your journal to your needs, choosing from lined paper for writing, watercolor paper for painting or envelope-style pages for storing mementos. Inspired by the PBS program Rick Steves’ Europe and his belief that travel opens the door to learning and experiencing new cultures, this journal will help you showcase your own personal travel stories in a meaningful and creative way. Come create your ideal travel companion! You’ll leave with your finished journal and the skills to continue this craft on all your future adventures. All supplies provided, no experience necessary.

About the New American Workshop Series: With support from the Salt Lake City Arts Council, this workshop series consists of 6 craft classes taught by New American makers from around the world who have made Utah their home. Whether they be refugees, immigrants or children of immigrants, these instructors will share and teach the process behind their art form while attendees learn of the craft’s cultural significance.
