Quirky Clay Co. is a small batch, handmade pottery studio, offering high-quality, well-finished, whimsical items for the home. In a world of mass production, I aim to provide customers the excitement of finding something truly unique and special – something no one else has. For that reason, I do not replicate any items I make – each mug, bowl, and vase is one-of-a-kind, with its own unique personality. My pieces are for those who love to collect, who like to find treasures meant just for them.

Working with clay since 2005, local potter Dorian Rosen creates hand-thrown pieces ranging from functional to whimsical. Committed to learning and growing with the Salt Lake City arts community, Dorian is a ceramic artist and production potter devoted to keeping one of the world’s oldest disciplines alive in the digital age. Not only is each piece sculpted and glazed by hand, but the glazes themselves are also carefully crafted. With a background in chemistry, Dorian brings a notable rigor to mixing and formulation. The burning reds and shimmering waterfalls seen on these pieces are the result of testing hundreds of glaze recipes. Handmade pottery is more than a way to beautify a space; it is a rare invitation to join the artist in brief communion with the earth, as human touch transforms clay and slurry into stone and glass.
