Liberty Senior Center presents intergenerational project in collaboration with Salt Lake Art Academy and Salt Lake City Waste and Recycling Division. Salt Lake Arts Academy is a public charter school for 5th-8th grade students offering a tuition free integrated program. Through out the years the students have been coming to volunteer at Liberty Senior Center serving lunches and doing various projects. Salt Lake City Waste and Recycling Division collected for us almost 200 two liter bottles. We picked them up, cleaned them out and cut them to size. The seniors and arts department at the Libert Senior Center painted them and were able to turn trash into beautiful butterflies! Our hope is to get the message out about volunteer opportunities through Salt Lake County Aging ad Adult Services and to raise funds with our butterflies so that the students will be able to continue their community stewardship program.
