What to Expect During The Festival

Q: How many attendees does the festival expect?
In past years, the festival has seen approximately 20,000 attendees.
Q: Do I get any comp tickets to share with family and friends?
Exhibitors will be provided with two all-access passes/credentials for the owner and an assistant. Additionally, all exhibitors will receive 2 single-day comp tickets per day of participation. For example, a 3-day exhibitor will receive 2 single-day comp tickets on Friday, 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. All 2-day exhibitors will receive 2 single-day comp tickets on Friday and 2 on Sunday. All Sunday-only exhibitors will be provided with 2 single-day comp tickets to be used on Sunday at the DIY Festival. We recommend using comp tickets to cover the entry fees for people who will be helping you with setup, tear down, and manage your booth while you take a restroom or lunch break.
Q: Why do I need to wear my festival credentials?
Your festival credentials help both attendees and staff identify you as an exhibitor. Wearing your credentials helps ensure you can easily exit/reenter the festival if needed. Festival credentials are non-transferable. Anyone caught passing them to others not working the festival will be asked to leave and jeopardize their participation in future Craft Lake City DIY Festivals and events.
Q: Do I have to wear a mask?
Yes. In 2021, all attendees and participants will be required to wear masks at all times, indoors and outdoors, per governmental covid-19 guidelines for large events. These rules and regulations may change as guidelines evolve.
Q: Where should I park?
The Utah State Fairpark manages paid parking lots on their grounds. Craft Lake City does NOT receive parking passes for exhibitors, so if you would like to park in the Fairpark lots, you will need to pay the daily fee. If you are interested in free options, we encourage you to make use of public transportation or street parking. Please note that most streets have an enforced 2-hour parking limit.
Q: Can I give out samples as a craft foodie?
Samples of food will not be permitted due to covid-19 guidelines, unless those samples are individually pre-packaged.
Q: Do shoppers purchase directly from exhibitors or do they check out through Craft Lake City?
Shoppers will purchase directly from you. Be prepared to accept cashless payment payments (credit card, cash, Square, Venmo, etc.). Bring small change for patrons who want to pay using cash. Craft Lake City does not make or break change for exhibitors. There will be several ATMs on-site for festival patrons.
Q: Is Wi-Fi available at the festival?
Wi-Fi is not reliable, nor is it secure at the venue. Be prepared to rely on cellular data as needed for accepting credit card payments, etc. Be sure to bring mobile batteries to charge your devices without the use of power.
Q: What is the venue’s policy on glass?
The Fairpark prohibits glass on festival grounds for food and drink that will be consumed on site. This policy does not apply to items pre-packaged in glass bottles and jars–for example: prepackaged food, jam, honey, bath and body products, etc.
Q: Are booth sitters provided?
No, the festival does not provide booth sitters. We recommend having a friend or family member watch your booth for you when you need to take lunch breaks or use the restroom.
Q: Am I required to remove my inventory and displays each night?
Craft Lake City is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and exhibitors are advised to use their best judgment in whether or not to leave items in their space overnight. Craft Lake City locks each festival building, secures the entrance and has security posted at the venue overnight. However, Craft Lake City STRONGLY recommends that artisans take all valuables, merchandise, tools and other important (mobile) items with them each evening. Full-weekend exhibitors will not be permitted to drive on the Festival grounds on Friday and Saturday evenings, so Craft Lake City recommends bringing a wagon and/or dolly to transport your important items each evening. If leaving items at the venue, we recommend putting all of your inventory in bins that lock, and securely placing them under your tables or furniture with a large table cloth over the top. Please note that staying in your space overnight is NOT allowed.
Q: Where can I smoke?
The DIY Festival is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is allowed only outside the festival, and you can re-enter using your exhibitor pass or ticket and hand stamp.
Q: Are pets allowed?
Service animals are allowed.
Q: Where can I dispose of trash and liquids?
You are responsible for removing trash and recyclable materials generated at your booth or table. The festival bins are for patrons only. Bring your own bins and/or trash bags for trash and recycling removal, and empty it regularly. You are responsible for ensuring your area is clean and that trash and recyclables do not build up. All exhibitors must properly dispose of all liquids: grease, oil, beer overflow, water, etc. according to venue regulations. Please ask your zone manager if you have any specific questions.
Q: What if I want to provide bags to my customers?
Plastic bags cause significant and costly problems for recycling equipment and facilities, and as a result Salt Lake City’s recycling program can no longer accept plastic bags. Therefore, single-use plastic bags are prohibited at the Craft Lake City DIY Festival as part of our commitment to sustainable initiatives. Festival attendees will be asked to bring or buy reusable (non-plastic) bags for their purchases.
Exhibitors must please avoid providing plastic bags for customers. Recyclable paper bags or biodegradable/compostable bags made from non-GMO plant-based materials serve as good alternatives. Exhibitors may consider selling reusable (non-plastic) bags at their booth or offering incentives to customers who bring their own bags or containers. Exhibitors are encouraged to limit the use of plastic and styrofoam in packaging whenever possible.
