Presents Craft Lake City Workshops

Get into the DIY spirit by taking a 45-minute workshop on-site at the Festival! Take home a finished product as well as the know-how to do it yourself again and again. Also look out for free demonstrations happening throughout the weekend on the west side of Gallivan Plaza.

Brush Lettering

Fall in love with lettering in this beginning brush calligraphy workshop. Attendees will learn the basic techniques, tools, and foundations of brush calligraphy, and will apply their new skills to create personalized lettered pieces. Danelle Cheney is the organizer of the Salt Lake Lettering Club, which hosts workshops and meetups for local letterers.

Gold Leafing

A constant creator, Lisa Lewis began Light & Ink as a way to bring nature’s beauty into everyday homes using gold-leafed objects and prints made from wood cross sections. Join us for one of Craft Lake City’s most popular workshops as we learn the basics of gold leafing and embellish a wooden plant holder to take home.

Local maker Marti Woolford is ready to show you the ropes of macramé! Discover basic principles, patterns, and techniques, and then create your own one-of-a-kind knotted object. Woolford is drawn to the rhythmic and meditative flow of tying knots and established Marti Makes to share her love of the modern macramé craft.

Luis Calderon of Puruha Arts

Calderon learned the craft of woodworking from his father as a child in Ecuador. Watch as he creates charming wooden toys and objects by hand.

University of Utah Book Arts Program

Print your own personal bookmark, make a small folded book, and chat with artisans from the University of Utah Book Arts Program.

Deanna Baugh of Deanna’s Handweaving and Fiber Arts
