  • Community Inclusion Coordinator
    Craft Lake City is looking for a Community Inclusion Coordinator. This position will lead Craft Lake City’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts by implementing the organization’s Community Inclusion Program and by building and advising on internal and external programs. The Community Inclusion Coordinator will grow our societal engagement through impactful interactions, outreach and programming. The applicant should have an interest in the local maker movement and familiarity with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission. Experience in nonprofit arts administration, diversity, equity and inclusion programming and/or community engagement/outreach required.

    This is a full-time, contract position, with the ability to become an employee after passing a probationary period. The weekly time commitment is 40 hours, which begins immediately upon hire. Weekly time commitments increase in May, June, July and August leading up to the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival (August 2022 and in October, November leading up to the Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market. The Community Inclusion Coordinator is required to be on-site for the duration of the DIY Festival and Holiday Market so working long event hours in the summer heat and outdoors during winter are factors you should consider when applying for this position.

  • Marketing & Communications Coordinator
    Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival held each year in August.     Under the direction of Craft Lake City management, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for public relations, marketing and social media efforts on behalf of Craft Lake City.

    Craft Lake City’s Marketing & Communications Coordinator is enthusiastic and interested in local DIY culture and the nonprofit arts sector, has a passion for crafting and local art. The right candidate will have a desire to create clear and creative messaging for diverse audiences and purposes through writing, marketing and social media. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will become intimately familiar with Craft Lake City’s programming, and will continually innovate and improve upon our ability to create mission-driven communications that resonate with the media, our social media subscribers, newsletter audience, website and overall community. This position will develop and execute multiple projects simultaneously, requiring the ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities and being a collaborative team player. This is a 30-hour per week contract position with increased hours during peak events and leading up to the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival.


    Responsibilities:
    -Works with senior-level Craft Lake City teamsters to conceptualize and implement short-term and long-term communication, marketing and outreach plans and strategies for Craft Lake City programs and events.
    -Identifies opportunities to promote Craft Lake City and its programs to new and target audiences.
    -Updates and enforces the Craft Lake City writing style guide for consistent messaging and branding.
    -Collects, manages and reports on data and statistics that measure the success of social media and public relations efforts. Identifies and effects changes required for improvement.
    -Cultivates relationships with local members of the media and serves as a spokesperson on behalf of Craft Lake City when appropriate. Provides direct responses, press releases, story pitches, images and special reports to reporters as needed.
    -Coordinates Craft Lake City’s monthly e-newsletter and periodic e-blasts, and develops strategies for increasing Craft Lake City’s newsletter subscriptions.
    Updates and creates content for the Craft Lake City website.
    -Updates community calendars with information about Craft Lake City events and programs.
    -Oversees all social media strategies, including scheduling, cross-promotion campaigns, and influencer partnerships; establishes strategies for increasing social media engagement and following.
    -Participates in outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Craft Lake City team, which may include tabling at community events, networking online and in-person, media appearances and attending CLC programs.
    -Assists in the design and production of Craft Lake City’s printed and digital promotional materials (brochures, videos, flyers, social media assets, etc.) as needed, including using Photoshop and Illustrator templates..

  • Hiring Coordinator

    The hiring coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment & hiring of the Craft Lake DIY Festival and Holiday Market teams, development of training programs & strategies, and the retention of event staff by building relationships & overseeing the organization’s culture of “Work hard, have fun and be nice to people!” This is a part-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of 10-15 hours, with increased workload during peak hiring times & weeks leading up to the DIY Festival.

    Responsibilities:
    -Maintain the year-round staffing needs for the organization
    -Manage job postings, employment-related community outreach, and applicant airtable database on behalf of the organization
    -Create a training strategy for DIY Festival/Holiday Market team, facilitate team orientation
    -Manage Festival hiring needs & objectives through recruitment, applicant pipeline, & interview processes
    -Manage the time tracking, invoicing & payment of Festival employees

  • Ticketing & Gates Manager
    Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.

    The Ticketing & Gates Manager will be responsible for team preparations & standards, managing the training of the cashier team, configuring and testing POS systems, and working on-site for the duration of our festivals to ensure the department runs smoothly and successfully.

    This is a year-round, part-time, contract position with a weekly time commitment of 15-20 hours per week for Festival preparation, with hours increasing as the festival draws closer. Weekly time commitments will begin in May and lead up to the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival on Friday, August 12, Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 2022 as well as the Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market in Ogden, Utah on Friday December 2 and Saturday, December 3, 2022.

    The Ticket and Finance Manager is required to be on-site for the duration of the DIY Festival, so working long hours are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position. 10-20 post-festival and Holiday Market hours per week will also be required for inventory reconciliation & other wrap up tasks.


    Responsibilities:
    -Build and maintain ticketing operations and reporting for all events for Craft Lake City
    -Communicate regularly with CLC staff, ticketing staff, vendors, and other affiliated parties
    -Assist with event programming, ticket holds, ticket accounts and other ticket details
    -Manage patron facing customer service needs as it relates to ticketing
    -Communicate regularly and assist internal departments and external event personnel with any ticketing needs and concerns
    -Attend all relevant meetings, functions and discussions
    -Act as manager and liaison at events including but limited to Sales, Guest List, Operations, Cash Management, Reporting and Customer Service
    -Assist with monitoring of ticket sales and maintenance of ticketing system
    -Track and reconcile ticket stock inventory
    -Maintain accurate accounting records and archives, compliance
    -Receive and maintain ticket fulfillment and process invoices to completion
    -Monitor supplies and equipment, as well as, report and follow up on any ticketing repair issues

    Qualifications:
    -2-3 years experience as a box office manager or representative, including management level work experience

  • Executive Assistant
    Craft Lake City is looking for an Executive Assistant to support our Executive Director. The Craft Lake City Executive Assistant is passionate about elevating Utah’s creative community. This self-motivated individual excels at managing details, preparing financial documents, creating spreadsheets, reports, letters, invoices and other supportive documents.   • DIY Festival Production Assistant
    Craft Lake City is looking for DIY Festival Production Assistants who will work as a team to set up and tear down the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Production Assistant is expected to remain on-site for key dates in the production schedule and to be on-call for troubleshooting issues and supporting the Festival team throughout the Festival dates. The Production Assistant will also have a great chance to work with a supportive team of individuals who allow Craft Lake City to create a unique festival for our community and interact with wonderful Festival volunteers.

    This is a contract, festival-specific position with a commitment of working August 12-14, 2022, with additional preparation shifts in the 2-4 weeks prior to the festival and the days immediately following the festival. The DIY Festival Production Assistant is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Fest, so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

  • DIY Festival Stage Manager
    Craft Lake City is looking for a DIY Festival Stage Manager who will help ensure smooth operation of the Craft Lake City stages during the DIY Festival, coordinating with the sound engineers, MCs, performers, and our Entertainment Coordinator. You’ll also get the chance to work with a supportive team of individuals and volunteers that allow Craft Lake City to create a unique festival for our community.

    This is a seasonal, contract position with a weekly time commitment of up to 7 hours the week of 8/7–8/11, the specifics of which will be determined upon hiring. The DIY Festival Stage Manager is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Festival (August 12, 13 and 14), so working long hours in extreme heat are factors you should consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.

  • DIY Festival Zone Manager
    Craft Lake City’s Festival Zone Managers serve as the primary point of contact for a large group of exhibitors at the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival. Zone Managers are personable, adaptable, solution-oriented leaders with excellent customer service skills and an interest in supporting Utah’s DIY businesses.

    Responsibilities:
    -Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for artisans at the DIY Fest in your assigned zone, offering excellent customer service to ensure a positive festival experience for all participants
    -Support artisans in your zone throughout the weekend, including answering questions, helping to troubleshoot issues, and escalating any special needs or concerns to management as necessary
    -Play a key role in the load-in and load-out logistics for artisans in your zone, including volunteer training and management
    -Create, organize, and distribute artisan lanyards and signage
    -Assist the Craft Lake City team with setting up and breaking down DIY Fest signage and equipment before, during, and after the DIY Fest
    -Assist in other areas of the DIY Fest as needed throughout the weekend

    Qualifications:
    -2 years of management or leadership experience
    -Festival, large event and/or crowd management experience preferred
    -Exceptional customer service, problem-solving and communication skills
    -Organized, collaborative and self-disciplined

    Craft Lake City is looking for cashiers who are wonderfully enthusiastic and can provide great customer service at our 2022 DIY Festival. Cashiers will assist with the handling of transactions at entry gates and other areas throughout the festival and champion the genuine, thoughtful sale of Craft Lake City offerings. Cashiers are responsible for providing exceptional guest service and helpful information to patrons and visitors of the DIY Fest.   • DIY Festival Kids' Area Coordinator
    Craft Lake City® is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival® held in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions, and other special events.

    Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival Kids’ Area Coordinator is responsible for programming the Kids’ Area to ensure a fun, creative and educational experience for kids and families during the DIY Festival. This team member is passionate about youth arts education, and is creative, collaborative, friendly, leadership-driven and organized. The DIY Festival Kids’ Area Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

    Responsibilities:
    -Create a plan for decor in the Kids’ Area and work with volunteers to make the decorations
    -Work with CLC’s Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train and manage volunteers for the Kids’ Area
    -Collaborate with the DIY Festival Inventory Manager to determine what supplies and tools will be needed in the Kids’ Area
    -Create and execute a safety plan for managing the bounce house and other entertainment in Kids’ Area, including recruiting contractors/volunteers to ensure coverage of all Kid’s Area activities.
    -Manage all aspects of the Kids’ Area during the DIY Festival, including setup, breakdown, and assisting volunteers and staff as needed
    -Work with Kids’ Area Sponsor to ensure their promotion and participation goals are met

    Qualifications:
    -Previous management experience
    -Experience working with children of all ages, in art education, and/or family programming preferred
    -Event coordination and crowd management experience desired
    -Well-versed in creating and managing a budget
    -Superb customer service skills
    -Exceptional organizational and time management skills
    -Effective communicator with a collaborative work style
    -Adaptable and flexible in a nonprofit, event-driven environment
    -Ability to access email 2–3 times a day and respond in a timely manner
    -Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
    -Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs
    -Must be able to stand on their feet for upwards of 10 hours a day
    -Must be able to endure summer temperatures of 90 degrees and above

    Requirements:
    -Part-time, seasonal contract position
    -Ability to work in-house at the CLC offices 5-10 hours per week May/June
    -Must own laptop and cellphone, with willingness to use for Craft Lake City tasks

  • Assistant Volunteer Coordinator

    Craft Lake City’s Assistant Volunteer Coordinator would assist in a supportive role to the Volunteer Coordinator and Craft Lake City Volunteer Department. The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator would be responsible for overseeing the check-in, training, and coordination of volunteers on-site during the 14th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator is organized, a natural leader, a clear communicator, outgoing and team player with an interest in supporting Utah’s creative community. This staff member will become familiar with all DIY Festival departments and assist in appropriate volunteer training and management to ensure a successful Festival experience. Additionally, the Assistant Volunteer Coordinator will support other departments during the event, providing breaks, added support, and quality customer service to artisans, exhibitors, performers, and attendees. Reports to the Volunteer Coordinator.

    Responsibilities
    -Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in managing the DIY Festival Volunteer Lounge, overseeing volunteer check-in and check-out process when the Volunteer Coordinator is unavailable
    -Assist in providing in-depth volunteer training onsite during the DIY Festival
    -Assist Volunteer Coordinator in determining volunteer needs during the DIY Festival and monitor volunteer activities
    -Escalating volunteer conflicts and concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator
    -Providing support to other department areas during the event including moving volunteers to new areas when appropriate and providing additional volunteer training when necessary
    -Providing breaks for the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff members during the event
    -Assisting with decor install and maintenance of Volunteer Lounge including restocking snack, drinks, maps, handbills, and other materials needed by volunteers during the event
    -Assist in distributing volunteer benefits including volunteer t-shirts
    -Answering questions and directing visitors and other community members when needed
    -Assist Volunteer Coordinator in overseeing volunteer program on-site at the DIY Festival and providing feedback for future programming improvements
    -Assisting volunteers as needed
    -Assist Volunteer Coordinator in distributing a volunteer thank-you and survey after the DIY Festival

    -Maturity and ability to professionally represent Craft Lake City
    -Desire to help with tasks ranging from data entry to in-person event support

  • Community Workshop Assistant
    Craft Lake City is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art. Craft Lake City's flagship event is the annual DIY Festival held each year in August. We also offer year-round programming that includes workshops, exhibitions and other special events.

    The Community Workshop Assistant will be responsible for the on-site coordination of both hands-on or virtual craft workshops in communities throughout Utah. Craft Lake City’s Community Workshop Assistant is interested in the local maker movement, is familiar with Craft Lake City’s programs and mission, and has a passion for arts education and event management. The Community Workshop Assistant will serve as a public ambassador for Craft Lake City, and will work to ensure a positive, professional and educational experience for workshop instructors, attendees and venue partners.

    Responsibilities:
    -Serving as a representative and ambassador of Craft Lake City at various community craft workshops during the year
    -Fostering positive relationships with workshop instructors and venue partners
    -Setting up and breaking down the workshop area in each venue in collaboration with venue contact and instructor
    -Assisting workshop instructor with supply load-in, set-up and load-out
    -Verifying workshop ticket holders upon arrival (in-person workshops)
    -Selling tickets to waitlist participants as necessary
    -Providing presentations to attendees about Craft Lake City and upcoming programs
    -Maintaining a clean and organized workshop area during the program
    -Supporting attendees and instructors during each workshop as needed
    -Posting to social media during and after the workshop
    -Coordinating attendee surveys at the end of each workshop
    -Returning workshop supplies to Craft Lake City headquarters
    -Providing photos from the workshop to Craft Lake City
    -Adding workshop responses to online form
    -Completing post-event workshop assistant online form
    -Assisting with post-event reporting as needed

    Qualifications:
    -Prior experience with event management
    -Prior experience or willingness to learn and master online meeting platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.)
    -Experience in arts programming preferred
    -Exceptional organizational, stress management and customer service skills
    -Ability to adapt and be flexible and collaborative in an event-driven, nonprofit environment
    -Ability to access email each day and respond in a timely manner
    -Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.

    Requirements:
    -Must attend required meetings and production training
    -Must be able to commit to work the public hours of the workshops with additional setup and teardown specific to each program
    -Must have your own laptop and vehicle and willingness to use for workshop-related tasks
    -Must be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, while simultaneously addressing attendees.
    -Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables and other supplies
