Craft Lake City Calls for Entries from Artists and Crafters
SALT LAKE CITY, Friday, March 2, 2012 – Artist applications are now being accepted by Craft Lake City for the annual alternative arts festival. The fourth annual Craft Lake City Festival will be held on Saturday, August 11. 2012 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City. The event is free and open to the public.
Craft Lake City 2012 applications will be accepted Monday, March 5 through Monday, May 7. All submissions will be evaluated by a team of judges and applicants will be notified of their status by May 18, 2012. Artists selected will be invited to vend at this year’s alternative arts festival.
Craft Lake City is happy to announce that they will be accepting applications for DIY Engineers this year, and encourages science and technology vendors to apply.
"We are excited to introduce our newest category for CLC applicants, DIY engineers,” said Angela Brown, SLUG Magazine Editor and Craft Lake City Festival Director. “This classification embraces the art of scientific innovation and homemade ingenuity. I am excited to see what Utahans offer in this exciting new field."
Craft Lake City is an outdoor arts festival that will showcase over 180 artists, specializing in handmade goods. Affordably priced items like silk-screened posters, reconstructed clothing, knitted items and jewelry will be available. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day and will include craft demonstrations, street performers, dancers and musical acts. Craft Lake City is modeled after alternative national craft festivals like the Renegade Craft Fair and the Bazaar Bizarre. The event is sponsored by the Gallivan Center and hosted by SLUG Magazine.
