A unique addition to The Fifth Annual Craft Lake City LetterWest will bring centuries of lettering history to Midvale, UT. The San Francisco-based Letterform Archive will join LetterWest, taking place April 10–11, with a special pop-up exhibition and on-site booth experience.
Letterform Archive is a nonprofit museum and study center dedicated to lettering, typography and graphic design, with an expansive collection of historically significant works. The organization publishes books featuring its collection and uses it as instruction and inspiration in Type West, a yearlong certificate program in type design available in-person or online. At LetterWest, attendees can explore a curated selection from the Archive, including 17th-century writing manuals, French sign painter chromolithographs, hand-painted beverage labels from the 1920s–30s, early 20th-century typeface specimens, and original design comps by lettering master Michael Doret.
The exhibition will debut during a preview on Thursday, April 9 from 6:00–9:00 PM, and continue Friday and Saturday from 7:30 AM–9:00 PM in the Attendee Lounge at OneApp (Webaholics) in Midvale.
This pop-up offers attendees a rare opportunity to engage with influential works in lettering history, enriching LetterWest’s mission to inspire and educate the creative community through hand-lettering.
Craft Lake City looks forward to sharing this unique experience with LetterWest attendees!
