New year, new us: The 11th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented by Harmons took place at the Utah State Fairpark, a big change for the Festival after 10 years at the Gallivan Center. With more open walking space and air-conditioned buildings, the venue shift proved to be a fantastic decision for the hundreds of artisans, musicians, foodies and more that showcase their work at the Festival.
The Festival’s five artisan buildings (Makers, Dreamers, Crafters, Builders and the Google Fiber STEM Building) provided a cool respite from the heat, while hosts of local bands braved the sun and provided top-notch musical entertainment on the SLUG Mag and 90.9FM KRCL stages. There was no shortage of exquisite food truck cuisine, and the Mark Miller Subaru Leave Your MARK Park was a perfect area for youngsters and families.
While there’s really no cure for retroactive FOMO or post-Festival depression, SLUG hopes that this massive gallery can serve as either an insight or a reminder of all the wonderfulness that took place over the weekend.
Read vignettes on some of the Festival participants in the August 2019 issue of SLUG, and join us in anticipation for Year 12!
