Applications Now Open for the
10th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival
Salt Lake City, Jan 10 – Craft Lake City®, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, announces today that applications are now open to exhibit at the 10th Annual DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Festival®, being held on Friday Aug. 10, Saturday Aug. 11, and Sunday Aug. 12, 2018. Makers in the categories of artisan, vintage vendor, craft food creator, stage performer and DIY engineer are encouraged to apply. Exhibitor applications will be accepted on the Craft Lake City website at https://craftlakecity.com/apply/ through Thursday, April 5, 2018.
Craft Lake City’s DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Festival® is Utah’s largest local-centric, three-day arts festival, with over 250 local artisans, DIY engineers, vintage vendors and craft food creators, a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Building, two stages of music and dance performances, local food vendors and food trucks, a kids’ area, a DIY workshop area, a VIP lounge and approximately 20,000 attendees.
“This year will be the 10th anniversary of the DIY Festival, and our hope is to expand the reach of the Festival within the community,” says Angela H. Brown, Craft Lake City’s Executive Director. “We want to see applications in all exhibitor categories from people who haven’t considered applying before, both hobbyists and entrepreneurs alike. Utah is full of dynamic and talented people, and we love providing a platform for their projects.”
Items exhibited by DIY Festival participants run the gamut of modern handmade goods. Just a few examples include pottery, jewelry, handmade bicycles, crocheted goods, embroidery, handmade furniture, sauces and spice mixes, 2D fine art, handcrafted childrens’ clothing, craft coffee, handmade paper, home decor items, mini pies, and hand-carved wooden objects.
Exhibitors in the STEM Building put their most innovative projects on display, whether to get input into product development, or simply to share their passion for creating with the public. Examples of past STEM exhibits include virtual reality, robotics, Arduino, programmable toys, educational sustainability displays, handmade synthesizers, self-propelled mechanical puzzles, drones, and audio systems.
The 10th Annual DIY Festival will be held Friday, Aug. 10, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.;Saturday, Aug. 11 from noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 12 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Gallivan Center, located at 239 S. Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City. Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free. More information can be found at craftlakecity.com.
