Salt Lake City, May 16 – Craft Lake City and The Gateway are pleased to present a Craft Cocktail Workshop featuring Waterpocket Distillery on Wednesday, May 23 at 6:30pm. This is the second event in a series of three craft cocktail workshops taking place this spring.
The workshop will begin with Alan Scott, co-owner of Waterpocket Distillery, discussing the unique botanicals and pre-Prohibition recipes he uses to create distinct spirits and amari. Attendees will enjoy tastings of samples from Waterpocket’s product line as they learn more about the local distillery.
Taking inspiration from Waterpocket’s Notom Amaro, local mixologist Natalie Hamilton will discuss techniques used to make cordials, bitters, and amaro, a deliciously bitter Italian digestif. Participants will go through the process of making their own at-home amaro, and learn how to use it to transform traditional cocktails. The evening will conclude with each attendee mixing a delectable cocktail that they can recreate in their own kitchen.
“Salt Lake City has an incredible distillery and brewery scene,” says Angela Brown, Executive Director of Craft Lake City. “We are thrilled to introduce our workshop participants to Waterpocket’s innovative spirits, and give them the confidence and skills to make creative cocktails at home.”
The craft cocktail workshop will be held at The Gateway in a space directly next to The Buckle store at 133 South Rio Grande Street, on the south end lower level of The Gateway. For parking options (not included in ticket price) please visit http://shopthegateway.com/visit-explore/getting-here/.
Pre-registration required with a $55 materials fee, must be 21 or older to participate. Small bites will be provided. To register, please visit craftlakecity.com/workshops.
