This workshop is the culminating class in a three-part Mindfulness & Community workshop series that promotes well-being through creativity and connection.  Engaging in hands-on crafting within a supportive group setting can reduce stress, build resilience and foster belonging, which helps lower the risk of addiction in youth and adults.

Limited spots are available, including scholarship opportunities for families, groups and mentor/mentee pairs. Tickets are available for purchase on Eventbrite, and scholarship opportunities can be applied for at this form.

Workshop Details:

  • When: Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Where: Knudsen Park in Holladay, Utah
  • Cost: $42
  • Scholarships: Limited 50% scholarships available for families, groups and  mentor/mentee pairs thanks to support from the Holladay Arts Council.

In this two-hour, beginner-friendly workshop, participants will:

  • Build confidence in watercolor techniques
  • Learn about the essentials of plein air painting
  • Connect with nature in a welcoming group setting
  • Be provided with all needed supplies
  • Take home an original 9”x12” landscape painting

About the Instructor: Nancy Andruk Olson creates lush, dreamlike landscapes full of vibrant color and loose, expressive brushstrokes. Her passion for the interplay of paint and materials led her to creating her own pigments to achieve maximum intensity. From this pursuit, Brighter Day Pigments was born, handmade watercolors offering artists brighter, more powerful watercolors than store-bought paints could provide.

Don’t worry, this class breaks everything down into easy steps. You’ll begin by exploring a variety of watercolor techniques to build your confidence. Then you’ll apply those techniques as you create your own 9”x12” plein air painting to take home.” – Nancy Andruk Olson
