Virtual Volunteers Needed for the Virtual 12th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons

Salt Lake City, UT – Craft Lake City is looking for virtual volunteers to help remotely with the Virtual 12th Annual Craft Lake City® DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons. For the first time, volunteers will have the opportunity to engage digitally in 3D, interactive, virtual galleries while assisting festival creatives and attendees. Interested community members can complete a simple online application to join the Craft Lake City volunteer team.

“While many events and volunteer programs have been suspended due to the uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Craft Lake City volunteers still have the opportunity to safely engage in community service while encouraging the local makers movement,” says Craft Lake City Executive Director Angela Brown. “Our volunteers have a long legacy of supporting the DIY Festival for the past eleven years and that will not change. With our new virtual model, volunteers can continue to support local artisans, digitally assist and socialize with a diverse cyber community, make new friends and contribute to the success of one of their favorite organizations.”

Virtual Volunteers will support festival artisans, STEM exhibitors, and festival attendees safely from home using their personal tablet, smartphone device, laptop or desktop computer. Helping remotely, they will work with Craft Lake City staff to monitor the platform during the event to ensure that the interactive virtual environment remains a fun, inclusive and safe environment. Shifts are as short as 2-hours and remote training will be provided.  Everyone is welcome to sign up, regardless of their level of tech-comfortability.

“As a non-profit, Craft Lake City needs and values the continued support of our volunteer team,” explains Volunteer Coordinator Tara Olson. “We realize for many of our volunteers, helping each year at the DIY Festival is a highlight to their summer. We are hoping that by providing a 3D, interactive space to socialize and engage, our volunteers can continue to show support of our organization.”

Volunteers will receive many virtual thanks and smiles for their assistance, get a behind-the-scenes virtual experience of the festival, interact with artisans, make new cyber friends, and show their support of our local art economy.
