SALT LAKE CITY, Friday, June 14, 2013: Craft Lake City, a 501-C3 charitable organization, will be featured at this year’s Utah Arts Festival on June 20-23. The Craft Lake City booth can be found in front of The Leonardo, Thursday through Sunday from noon–9 p.m., and will give festival attendees a choice of three hands-on projects to complete, giving them a chance to become DIY Engineers, creating electronic craftworks.
GoEngineer will be onsite at the Craft Lake booth, printing 3-D robot charms and showing visitors how to solder and create their own LED accessories to take home. Attendees can also put together an illuminated helium balloon with LED lights to help build Craft Lake City’s balloon sculpture, which will stand erected and lit throughout the Arts Festival.
This is Craft Lake City’s first year as a featured booth inside the Utah Arts Festival. Craft Lake City Executive Director Angela H. Brown said, “We’re excited to collaborate with the Utah Arts Festival this year, and for the opportunity to show attendees the creative relationship between the world of art and science and technology.”
This year’s Craft Lake City festival commences in a two-day format on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10. The outdoor alternative arts festival will showcase a science and technology building, and over 200 vendors specializing in handmade goods such as: silk screened posters, progressive crafts, DIY designs, reconstructed clothing, knitted items, jewelry, letter-pressed books and more. It will be held for its fifth year at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City and is free and open to the public. More information can be found at craftlakecity.com.
