We also strive to surprise and delight our customers by continually baking up new and better hand-made products. Just recently, our Artisan Bakers took a four-day trip to New York and visited dozens of bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants where they sampled all kinds of different breads and pastries. The baked goods on our tasting spree ranged from upscale to classic corner bakery comfort foods. “Good enough” is never good enough for Harmons! That’s why you’ll always find something new and delicious in Harmons artisan bakery.

We’ve got some exciting changes coming to our pastry cases that are sure to delight your palette. Our new Strawberry Shortbread is perfectly traditional with delicate, buttery shortbread filled with fresh sweet strawberries and strawberry whipped cream, topped with a light dusting of sugar. If you’re craving something more exotic, try our Passion Fruit Tart. It starts off with a decadent chocolate tart shell, filled with passion fruit curd and topped with Chantilly cream. If you want to step away from all that chocolate and strawberries, try our individual Lemon Meringue Tarts. Our hand-made sweet tart shells are filled with a tart lemon filling and topped with loads of toasted meringue.

We’ve also been baking up some savory delights no bread-lover can resist, such as Parmesan Breadsticks, Prosciutto Baguettes and Rolls, Focaccia, Whole Wheat Sourdough and a variety of flavored flatbreads, just to name a few. We’d also like to tell you about our 100% Whole Wheat Multigrain Artisan Bread, which comes highly recommended by our Harmons dietitians. It is a delicious healthier bread option, great for sandwiches or for your toast. Stop by the bakery and try a sample of the multigrain or any of our other delicious artisan breads!

Berry French Toast

Berry and Mascarpone stuffed French Toast (Serves 6)

Ingredients:
1 loaf Harmons Artisan Challah bread cut into six 2-inch slices
3 Tablespoons Bear Lake Raspberry Jam (a fantastic Utah product, available at Harmons)
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced thin
1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
4 whole eggs
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1. Use a paring knife to make a slit in the bottom of each slice of bread to create a pocket for stuffing.
2. In a small bowl, toss sliced strawberries in sugar and set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, using a fork, mix together the mascarpone cheese and raspberry jam until well blended. Stir sugared strawberries into the mixture.
4. In a large shallow bowl or pie dish, beat the milk, eggs and cinnamon with a fork until well blended.
5. Now it’s time to start stuffing your French toast! Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of filling into the pocket of each bread slice. Set aside on a plate or cookie sheet.
6. Heat butter in a skillet or griddle over medium heat until foaming subsides.
7. Dip each piece of stuffed bread into the milk and egg mixture, making sure all sides are covered in the batter, then cook until golden brown, flipping with a spatula when the first side is done.
8. Serve your stuffed French toast with butter and warm maple syrup.
