X-mas is over, the snow is going to get all grey and gross, and all of us nonskier types are over winter by now. January is a bummer, but don’t despair, stay in and work on an art project! Honoring the spirit of art and craftiness, “Handy Dandy SLC” is a colorful remedy for winter blues. And for even more fun, this Celebration of the Hand features one of the very best elements of design, texture! It’s an extra touchy feely experience for the whole family. Who needs lights at Temple Square when there’s a weird sign thing with bubble wrap and tinfoil in front of the old Zephyr?

Celebration of the Hand was started by The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change and Craft Lake City in the Summer of 2012 as a way to highlight and showcase the work of local artisans participating in the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. The Celebration of the Hand pieces are installed into steel Plakats, which are adjacent to the sidewalks on the North and South sides of Broadway (300 South) between 200 West and 200 East.

The exhibit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is free to the public.
