Craft Lake City is overjoyed to announce a brand new sponsorship from local nonprofit Utah Afterschool Network! Craft Lake City and Utah Afterschool Network (UAN) are partnering to provide enrichment experiences for young Utah makers at Kid Row, the youth entrepreneur vendor section of the 14th Annual Craft Lake City® DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons.
With the generous support of Utah Afterschool Network, Craft Lake City is expanding the footprint of Kid Row at the DIY Fest to be able to accommodate more participants this year & provide more young Utah entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop business skills. Craft Lake City’s Kid Row program offers youth artisans (14 and under) the opportunity to participate in the Annual DIY Festival as exhibitors, giving them real world entrepreneurial experience establishing a small business, creating inventory, interacting with real-world customers, and processing financial transactions alongside other creative kids. Utah Afterschool Network’s funding goes toward covering the hard costs associated with staffing and producing Kid Row in order to keep participating costs low for our kid makers’ participation at the DIY Fest. Additionally, funds from this sponsorship will go to provide scholarships for prospective Kid Row participants who may need support with participation fee waivers, as well as entry tickets for additional family members to attend and meal vouchers for a full festival experience.
As the area sponsor for Kid Row at the 14th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons, UAN will table at the event to provide information for families on other youth entrepreneur enrichment opportunities and extracurricular, after-school programs throughout the state.
“UAN strives to give local kids the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship first-hand, learning valuable skills and lessons at a young age. Our hope is that, by expanding the Kid Row program, we will bring the spark of interest for these kids to continue to grow and develop as creatives and entrepreneurs,” says Ben Trentelman, Executive Director of Utah Afterschool Network.
Through its myriad of year-round curation projects, arts & STEM enrichment programs, and its annual DIY Fest and Holiday Markets, local nonprofit Craft Lake City endeavors to uplift local makers while elevating the Utah creative community.
“Craft Lake City’s youth programming inspires and empowers kids to begin exploring, experimenting, and creating works of their own and even participating in the local creative economy,” says Angela H. Brown, Executive Director of Craft Lake City. “We are thrilled to expand our youth enrichment programming for 2022 at Kid Row Sponsored By Utah Afterschool Network!”
