NEW Programming for the 14th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons!
Youth Artisan Entrepreneur Program Participants at Kid Row Sponsored by Utah Afterschool Network: In 2022, Craft Lake City launched a new creative entrepreneurial program for youth at two afterschool sites in Salt Lake County. The Craft Lake City Youth Artisan Entrepreneur Program was made possible through funding provided by the Utah Afterschool Network and the Falbaum-Caillet Family Foundation and provided free, enriching afterschool arts programming to elementary aged youth, while preparing them to exhibit at Kid Row Sponsored By Utah Afterschool Network, the youth entrepreneur vendor section of the 14th Annual Craft Lake City® DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons. This year’s DIY Fest features 18 kid artisans from this Youth Artisan Entrepreneur Program!
Project Rainbow Scholarship: This year Craft Lake City was able to DOUBLE our artisan scholarship offerings with the generous support of the Utah nonprofit, Project Rainbow! The Project Rainbow scholarship was awarded to 5 DIY Fest exhibitors whose work promotes LGBTQ+ visibility.
Expanded and Continued Programming for the 14th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons
Pacific Islander Heritage Month Day at the DIY Festival: To celebrate Pacific Islander Heritage Month in August 2022, Craft Lake City is partnering for the second year in a row with Pasifika Enriching Arts of Utah to highlight local artisans, youth entrepreneurs, foodies, and performers from Utah’s vibrant Pacific Islander communities! On Saturday August 13, festival-goers can shop from a special lineup of Pacific Islander vendors and enjoy a performance by Halau Ku Pono I Kamalani. Find out more about our Pacific Islander Heritage Month Day and check out the full lineup of featured artisans here.
Sponsored Entrepreneur Program: Our Sponsored Entrepreneur Program seeks to increase accessibility to the festival experience by demystifying what it takes to participate in the DIY Festival for new makers. Artisans can shadow a seasoned maker at the DIY Fest in order to get a feel for the festival before making the leap to participate. Craft Lake City is thrilled to see the impact of our Sponsored Entrepreneur Program this year with last year’s Sponsored Entrepreneur joining us as a first-time exhibitor for the 14th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons!
Application Fee Support: Craft Lake City was able to provide application fee waivers to every applicant who expressed a need for assistance.
Kid Row Scholarship: Craft Lake City offers Kid Row Scholarships to any maker, 14 and under, who would like to exhibit at the DIY Fest but for whom the fee is a barrier.
STEM Scholarship: Craft Lake City offers STEM Scholarships to any engineer, tinkerer or community organization who would like to exhibit at the DIY Fest but for whom the fee is a barrier.
Sponsored Families Program: In 2022 Craft Lake City partnered with six community organizations to offer a full festival experience to 25 families.
